Amazon enters the FAST channels business on its Fire TV service
Amazon enters the FAST channels business through its Fire TV Channels service, which is already available to more than 200 million users around the world, with a new proposal for free television with advertising.
The e-commerce giant has turned to the American presenter Martha Helen Stewart, popular for its cooking and lifestyle spaces, to promote this new service.
It should be noted that the rise of FAST channels is attributed to the fact that customers have reached a kind of saturation point with streaming video-on-demand offerings and have no interest in adding more subscriptions to their monthly bills. On the contrary, these advertising-supported channels (similar to traditional television) are easy to use because users do not have to create an account or log in to enjoy the programming.
As the number of pay television subscribers decreases, FAST channels continue to gain momentum, but it is still a fairly fragmented sector given the disaggregated nature of streaming.
Following the launch of the new FAST channels dedicated to different themes, Fire TV has launched an interface that promises an even more fluid experience and access for consumers.
After the first launches of channels dedicated to music videos, news, lifestyle, or entertainment... in which some 400 editorial partners participate, other NHL, Xbox and TMZ will gradually join, adding new providers such as Condé Nast or the PGA.
