FREMM and ARETELMUR hosted the FENITEL national congress in Murcia. At the Congress, thanks to the collaboration of COIT, the 50th anniversary of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was celebrated at the national level.

More than 650 congressmen from all over Spain from the telecommunications, audiovisual and digitalization sectors, 210 from Murcia and 457 streaming, participated from May 16 to 18 in the national congress Telcom'19, that the National Federation of Telecommunications Installers and Integrators (FENITEL), the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia (FREMM), and the Association of Installers of the Region of Murcia (ARETELMUR), integrated into the two aforementioned entities, in collaboration with the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT). The event addressed the latest innovations and technological solutions for the development of the Digital Society with the presentation of multiple solutions and use cases already applicable

The technical day was officially opened by the Business Councilor of the Region of Murcia, Javier Celdrán, who encouraged all the businessmen present to advance in digitalization and in putting technology at the service of citizens. Celdrán was accompanied at the event by the presidents of FENITEL, Fernando Huerva, of FREMM, Alfonso Hernández, of ARETELMUR, Pedro J. Sánchez and the dean-president of the COIT, Marta Balenciaga.

On the occasion of the celebration of 50th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the technical part of the event began with a greeting from the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Houlin Zhao.

Telcom'19The inaugural session of round tables at Telcom'19 was moderated by the dean of the COIT, in addition to the intervention of the general director of Telecommunications and the Information Society of the Ministry of Economy. Roberto Sánchez insisted on the importance of standardization to achieve digital advancement and the multiple tasks in which the sector's agents are immersed in this area.

5G has been the protagonist fundamental part of the first of the round tables, moderated by Antonio Fernández-Paniagua, Deputy Director General of Radioelectric Spectrum Planning and Management. The new generation, 5G, will be essential to achieve the connectivity and development objectives of the digital society and will cause a paradigm shift in technological and social development.

Satellite must be part of 5G solutions, and its many common elements were advanced by Hispasat. In turn, Cellnex Telecom It presented itself as a neutral operator capable of lowering and rationalizing the enormous costs that the deployment of 5G will entail, and from the COIT, they confirmed that 5G will exceed all the expectations and services of 4G that are currently known.

In the second of the round tables, Pedro Alonso Manjón, deputy director general of Telecommunications Networks and Operators, analyzed the current situation of broadband development and current coverage in Spain, one of the best in Europe, and announced that a new plan is being prepared to renew its momentum.

Hispasat, Axion, Ikusi, Televés and Fermax proposed real solutions to improve connectivity and promote use cases based on IoT, Internet of Things, and for smart cities, buildings, homes and tourist destinations, as well as the current development of the IoT Node was presented in the field of standardization, without leaving aside the so-called rural Spain, which cannot remain oblivious to these advances with the implementation of “Smart agro” solutions, all supported by connectivity and IoT.

Second digital dividend

After the coffee break and the signing of the FENITEL collaboration agreement with Recyclia To ensure the correct and efficient treatment and recycling of electronic waste, batteries and lighting from its associated or collaborating companies, the third of the round tables dedicated to the present and future challenges of free-to-air television began.

Representatives of public television stations (FORTA and RTVE), national private television stations (UTECA) and the digital industry through the new general director of AMETIC. It analyzed the present and future of free television and its broadcasts through the different existing networks, as well as the new services that DTT already offers to users, thanks to the hybridization of DTT broadcasts captured by the antennas of buildings with the Internet connection in homes and the use of the European standard, HbbTV 2.0.

At the table moderated by Angel Garcia Castillejo, secretary of Open Television, the LOVEStv platform was also presented, which the three main national DTT operators in Spain have already put into operation.

The fifth and last of the Congress panel tables rounded off the day with new business perspectives, added value, accessibility, sustainability and obligations of companies in environmental matters and waste recycling. It was moderated by the treasurer of FENITEL, Juan Carlos Torralba, who gave a quick summary of the main conclusions of the day.

After the summary, the CEO of Recyclia spoke and explained the agreement reached with FENITEL for the recycling of electronic and electrical waste by the Federation's associates and collaborators. The representatives of Fermax and Fonestar then intervened, presenting their solutions in terms of Accessibility and new business opportunities in the field of Public Address, concluding the panel with the project director of FENITEL, who presented the project to society.
