HBO shoots 'Por H o ​​por B' in Madrid, a comedy directed by Manuela Burló Moreno

The series will have ten half-hour episodes set in modern-day Madrid and produced by Lacoproductora and Globomedia for HBO Europe in Spain.

HBO Europe has started filming in Madrid By H or by B, his new original ten-episode series produced by Lacoproducer (production company led by Jose Miguel Contreras y Jorge Pezzi) y Globomedia (The Mediapro Studio).

Jorge Pezzi and Javier Pons are the executive producers, while the executive production by HBO Europe is carried out by Miguel Salvat, Steve Matthews and Antony Root.

The series is starring Marta Martín and Saida Benzal, which take up the characters they gave life to in the acclaimed short film Someone. Set in modern-day Madrid, with its epicenter in the Malasaña neighborhood, the comedy completes its cast with names such as Brays Efe, Itziar Castro, Javier Bódalo and Fernando Albizu, among others.

With the Madrid Malasaña neighborhood turned into another character, By H or by B is a comedy starring Hache and Belén, two friends from Parla who, after years without speaking, meet again in their new life in the center of the city. The inevitable cultural clash between the two worlds will lead to a catastrophe of hilarious proportions. A comedy in which seamless friendship and the most shameless posturing come together.

Manuela Burló Moreno recovers here the characters from her short Someone, nominated for the Goya for best fiction short film. Burló Moreno has previously written and directed the films Directions y How to survive a goodbye, in addition to several award-winning short films at festivals around the world.

Burló comments that “By H or by B It shows the reality of that packaging that we all put on to try to belong to something, although later we realize that what is truly important is to be yourself. The series talks about the search for a place, the need to belong. Where do you fit if you don't fit anywhere and the fine thread that separates what is cool from what is not cool. All this through the eyes of our protagonists, two girls from Parla, who will try to balance things to survive the most hipster neighborhood in the capital.”

Manuela ha vivido miles de situaciones como las que veremos en esta comedia. Sabe de lo que habla y lo sabe contar muy bien. Hay muchos Malasañas en el mundo. Por H o por B es algo universal, pero a la vez no puede ser más local. Una voz fresca y sin concesiones llega a HBO”.
