OTT revenue to more than double by 2024

SVOD services have become the largest source of OTT revenue since 2014, surpassing AVOD. SVOD revenue will increase by $51 billion between 2018 and 2024, reaching $87 billion.

Los worldwide revenue from online series and movies will reach the 159 billion dollars in 2024, more than double the $68 billion recorded in 2018. About $17 billion will be added in 2019 alone.

According to a study by Digital TV Research, SVOD services have become the largest source of OTT revenue since 2014 by surpassing AVOD. SVOD revenue will increase by $51 billion between 2018 and 2024, reaching $87 billion.

Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, assures that "despite the loss of market share in favor of SVOD, there is still a lot of growth in AVOD. AVOD revenues will increase by $34 billion between 2018 and 2024, reaching $56 billion. Several high-profile AVOD-funded platforms will begin operating soon."

Of the 138 countries covered in the report, the top five will account for 68% of global income by 2024. This share is down from 71% in 2018, revealing that the rest of the world will grow at a faster pace. OTT revenue will exceed $1 billion in 18 countries by 2024, up from 10 countries in 2018.

The United States will continue to be the dominant territory at some distance, with its share of global income remaining slightly below 40%. Digital TV Research predicts that US revenue will double between 2018 and 2024, adding almost $34 billion to reach $61 billion.

China will add $15 billion over the same period to reach $27 billion. The US and China will control 56% of the world total by 2024.
