Iciar Bollaín filming has just started Rosa's wedding, his new film, which will be set in the Valencian Community and will star Candela Peña. The main cast is completed by Sergi López, Nathalie Poza, the Valencian Paula Usero and Ramón Barea.
In the director's words, "the joke 'The family? Well... far away' comes true with Rosa, for whom reconciling what she wants with what others want becomes a titanic task, even if it involves organizing her own wedding. There are many Rosas among us and we are all a little Rosa... Learning to know what one wants and not giving up on it is a difficult subject to pass and sometimes it is not achieved in a lifetime. But Rosa is willing to achieve it."
About to turn 45, Rosa realizes that she has always lived for others and decides to leave, leave everything and press the nuclear button. He wants to take control of his life and fulfill the dream of having his own business. But she will soon discover that her father, her brothers and her daughter have other plans, and that changing her life is not so easy if it is not in the family script.
After the successes achieved with his latest titles Also the rain, Kathmandu, a mirror in the sky, The olive tree y July, Iciar Bollain shoots a story written this time with the screenwriter Alicia Luna, with whom he already worked on one of his biggest hits, I give you my eyes, winner of seven Goyas, two Silver Shells at the San Sebastián Festival, six CEC Medals, and was also one of the highest-grossing films of 2003.
The director wanted to have actress Candela Peña as the protagonist, with whom she already worked in I give you my eyes and in Hello, are you alone?, a film that marked her successful directorial debut and won three awards at the 1995 SEMINCI.
Rosa's wedding It is being filmed in several locations in the Valencian Community (Valencia, Benicasim, Alcácer, Picasent, Catarroja, Silla and Paterna) and is Bollain's second film in the region after The Olive Tree. For Iciar, “this story could happen anywhere, but Valencia and Benicasim lend their luminosity, their bustle and their joie de vivre (with a good fireworks display included) to the story of Rosa and that invasive, noisy, selfish and a little surreal, but also very loving family of hers.”
Production is carried out by Tandem Films, Turanga Films y September Cinema. It has the participation of RTVE, Movistar+ and À Punt Mèdia, with the help of the Institut Valencià de Cultura and will be distributed by Filmax.
