The address of Spanish Radio Television is renewed with the appointment of three professionals of recognized prestige in the media. David Valcarce, current director of Operations of Spanish Television, becomes the director of TVE; Enrique Hernandez, former director of El Periódico de Cataluña, will occupy the direction of Information and Current Affairs of RTVE; and Victor Sanchez He will be in charge of the Operations area.

David Valcarce, 62 years old, a senior Telecommunications engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, comes to the management of TVE as a great connoisseur of the reality of this company, where he has developed his professional career. Among its challenges are modernization and adaptation to the new technological and operational needs that have arisen in these times. He replaces Eladio Jareño, whom the Sole Provisional Administrator has thanked for the services provided.

Valcarce joined RTVE by opposition in 1978. He has been a key player in the technical deployment in major events carried out by TVE, such as the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens, Beijing, London and Rio, royal weddings, proclamation of King Felipe VI and papal visits to Spain.

Since 1987 he has held positions of responsibility with the different teams that have been in charge of RTVE. He has been head and coordinator of Technical Applications Projects, head of the R&D and Methods Service, head of Emission Resource Planning, deputy director of Technical Maintenance of Torrespaña, deputy director of Technical Production Means, deputy director of exploitation of Technical Means, director of Media and, from 2017 to the present, director of Operations.

After this reorganization, Víctor Sánchez García, 42 years old, senior Telecommunications engineer and RTVE professional, assumes the direction of TVE Operations. From 2017 until now, he has been the director of the Technical Area of ​​TVE.

He started at RTVE in 1999 as an electronic technical officer and systems analyst. In 2007 he was appointed deputy director of Maintenance at TVE and in 2009 he became director of Technical Support and Maintenance, working on the operations of the London and Rio Olympic Games, the Barcelona World Swimming Championships and the Mediterranean Games, among other major events.

Enrique Hernandez Information and News Directorate

Enric Hernández, 50 years old, graduated in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​assumes the position of director of Information and Current Affairs, a figure that already exists in other leading public television stations, such as the BBC. His work includes the coordination of information between the different RTVE channels and stations. It will also unify criteria between news programs and magazines, highlighting the current events that unite them.

Enric Hernández's career is that of a professional dedicated to information, who he knows as a journalist and as director, a position he held from 2010 to May 2019 at the Periódico de Catalunya. Previously, in 2009, he had been deputy director of El País and responsible for its edition in Catalonia. Hernández has been linked to RTVE as an analyst for TVE's Los Desayunos and a talk show host for RNE. Between 1992 and 2008, he was a political columnist in Madrid for the newspaper Avui and El Periódico.

Hernández has undertaken the digital transformation in a newsroom, a process that RTVE is in and that it must now promote. It has also promoted investigative journalism and economic and socially relevant information.
