'Reevolution': is it possible to produce a film with a budget of 3 million with less than 6,000 euros?
Leo Rivera, Fele Martínez, Gorka Otxoa, and Hovik Keuchkerian have carved a niche for themselves in film history by achieving the world record for Production Value.
Reevolution, the action thriller starring Leo Rivera, Fele Martínez, Gorka Otxoa and Hovik Keuchkerian has made a place for itself in the history of cinema by managing to take over the rworld record in Production Value (production value).
This feature film had a budget of less than 6,000 euros (of which almost 4,500 have been allocated to the payment of taxes and administrative procedures). Its screenwriter, director and producer, David Sousa Moreau, has achieved the surprising feat of making a film budgeted at more than 3 million euros.
The collaboration of more than thirty brands and hundreds of fans of the seventh art has made this fast-paced 98-minute action thriller possible, which has featured more than 80 locations, 50 international actors, almost 130 extras, dialogues in more than 10 languages, around 200 replicas of weapons, dozens of American special vehicles and with the collaboration of artists from the USA, Ukraine and France.
“It is an achievement as surprising as making a car for 20 euros, going out to dinner for 2 cents, building a luxury villa for 300 euros or making a “The Avengers” movie with the 12-minute budget of a Spanish film,” explains its director David Sousa Moreau.
Gorka Otxoa adds that "it is the cinematographic equivalent of Spain winning a World Cup, or Nadal winning the Roland Garros. It is something that we can be proud of, both the team itself and all Spaniards."
Flashback and interrogations reconstruct a puzzle narrative that requires the viewer's involvement to be resolved.
“The film talks about the power and responsibility that the individual and the media have,” says actor Fele Martínez.
Intelligence and entertainment are the pillars of this visionary script written more than seventeen years ago, which already predicted the arrival of the crisis, the 15M uprising, the rise of fake news and the current independence movements.
Reevolution It tries to give voice to the irritation and anger that people feel in the face of government abuses. In Spain, its premiere will take place the same weekend as the general elections next November, an ideal moment for the audience to connect with the film's critical message.
“Many of the predictions of Reevolution are yet to be fulfilled. I think this film will remain relevant for decades,” Hovik Keuchkerian tells us.
The actors have done a job that is totally different from the records in which we have seen them until now. They have also opted for the originality of the script, participating as partners and drivers of the project. “I got involved in the project because I think it is a necessary film, that the world has to see,” Gorka Otxoa confesses.
Reevolution, probably the most ambitious film in national independent cinema, has now set out to break a new record: to become the most profitable Spanish feature film.
They are goal is to raise 120,000 euros, thus obtaining the highest return on investment achieved so far in Spain.
“It would be a new path of hope for future generations of filmmakers who, despite having talent and great stories, are not fortunate enough to have the support of major productions,” acknowledges the director.
Actor Leo Rivera adds that it is "time to support Reevolution and help us spread this necessary message. It is up to each of us to make people believe again that the world can be changed."
