CMM Tv's new 4K channel chooses Sapec encoding

The Ultra High Definition signal is encoded in real time using the technology of the new family of SivacOne Media Processor (SMP) equipment from Sapec.

The solution of 4K encoding of Sapec has been chosen for the new UHD channel of Middle Castile-La Mancha (CMM TV). The autonomous community that supplied its television signal to the entire region in 2001, the third largest in Spain in surface area and with more than 2,000,000 inhabitants in more than 900 municipalities, has begun the transmission of its new channel in Ultra High Definition since last December 11, 2019.

These broadcasts, of CMMTV's own content and Spanish Television (RTVE), were coded in real time by Sapec using the technology of the new family of equipment. SivacOne Media Processor (SMP), which allow a very high image quality (as corresponds to the new UHD signals) in a reduced bandwidth, and with a coding latency that can be below 150 ms.

The encoding has been carried out in accordance with the normalized standard for the dissemination of UHD content (HEVC Coding, 4:2:0-10 Bits), incorporating quality improvements of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and enhanced color (WCG).

SMP (Sivac One Media Processor) is one latest generation encoder card developed by Sapec for the Sivac One modular platform that can house up to 3 cards in a 1U rack.

The SMP card supports 1 UHD (4K) channel or up to 4 FHD/HD channels. Therefore, Sivac One with the SMP card offers a channel density of up to 12x FHD/HD or 3x UHD in a device one unit high (1 RU).
