Mexican company Totalplay chooses Ateme's Titan virtual coding for its convergent headend
Totalplay benefits from the hardware abstraction, operational simplicity and service elasticity that Ateme offers, thus reducing OPEX costs.
Totalplay, the triple play operator of the Mexican multimedia group Salinas, has opted for the Titan virtual encoding solution from Atem for your convergent header. Titan's proven ability to operate on servers, blade platforms and virtual environments with the same source code provides Totalplay with the flexibility to scale up or down without service interruptions.
Totalplay now benefits from hardware abstraction, operational simplicity and service elasticity, thereby reducing OPEX costs. In addition to all these OPEX savings, you also benefit from some pure CAPEX savings as fewer different boxes and spare parts are needed.
Titan is a virtualized software-based encoder and transcoder designed for cable, DTH, DTT and OTT. As a pure software encoder, it makes no assumptions about the underlying hardware and can run in any environment, removing infrastructure restrictions. By using Intel VCA cards, Ateme is able to increase channel density tenfold over platforms without Intel graphics capabilities, while maintaining unlimited quality. The result is a significant reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) per transcoding channel.
Robert Oaxaca, director in Mexico at Ateme, highlights that "Ateme's virtual solution implements the functions of an encoder on software and runs in a virtual machine in data centers. This gives operators the ability to define logical systems according to their needs, and not just by a dedicated device. A virtualized environment will have a much smaller physical footprint than that used by dedicated devices, which significantly reduces the CAPEX and OPEX of operators. By providing solutions, guidance and support, Ateme now becomes a true video data center enabler for operators looking to modernize their workflows.”
