Sony invests in Kino Galicia, the second International Marathon for the creation of Short Films

Kino Galicia will bring together, in Santiago de Compostela, one hundred filmmakers from all over the world to integrate different filming, editing and editing groups to create unpublished films in a few days.

Santiago de Compostela will host, from February 10 to 18, the second International Short Film Creation Marathon, Kino Galicia. As in the previous edition, the Galician Museum of Contemporary Art (CGAC) It will be the space where the participants will establish their operations center. A large room open for citizens to come and see how the filming and editing of the different short films are prepared and developed.

Thanks to the support offered by Sony Professional Solutions Europe, which will give away cameras PXW-FS5M2K, PXW-FS7M2K and sound kits, participants will be able to ride in the best conditions.

On the other hand, the DOP (chamber director), Forest Finbow, who has worked on more than 17 feature films, shorts and documentaries in the last seven years, will come with the new FX9, a new full frame camera, with fast hybrid autofocus and low light capabilities with dual base ISO, which was announced at IBC last September.

Inspired by the highly mobile documentary-style approach of the FS7 series camcorders, the FX9 offers content creators greater flexibility with an electronic variable neutral density filter, providing content creators with more creative effects and an exposure level that changes instantly based on the recording environment, even when moving from indoors to outdoors or when recording in natural lighting conditions.

For two hours, Finbow will show how to take advantage of this camcorder and share his experience and knowledge as a professional camera operator so that technicians can apply his recommendations in the shoots that will begin the next day.

Kino Galicia

Kino Galicia is a Galician non-profit association focused on audiovisuals, part of the international Kino movement; a film laboratory in which all professions related to cinema come together to make films.

The association was created at the end of 2017 with the aim of bringing film talent from abroad and internationalizing Galician through the real experience of making independent films combining experience and nationalities in a relaxed atmosphere of cooperation. Our star bet is the annual international short film marathon, having held the first edition in 2018.

The underlying philosophy is based on mutual help since in the Creative Marathon there are no prizes or competition; The reward is to make the short film with the best possible quality since it will be the result of the work done by the team itself, which they can present and promote wherever they want.

The Kino movement was born in Montreal in 1999, when a group of filmmakers set themselves the challenge of producing one short film a month until the year 2000. A year later they organized a Kino Lab and brought together people from different audiovisual profiles: direction, photography, acting, music, effects, etc.

For several days they combine skills, talent and experiences to create quality films, also sharing their own professional material.

After a trip to Europe, Kino groups began to spontaneously emerge in different cities, giving rise to what would become the Kino Movement, which continues to expand naturally, currently being present in more than 80 cities.
