Movistar+

Movistar continues working to improve its television platform and consolidate it as one of the leaders in Europe by offering its customers a unique user experience in the market by combining the latest technology and the simplest navigability on the platform with which to enjoy the best content.

Numerous milestones, such as the consolidation of UHD decoders, which already represent more than 30% of the park, have supported the Movistar+ platform as a benchmark in our country, although without losing sight of improvements in the future, such as the possibility of watching two programs at the same time by dividing the screen in two (especially useful for sports competitions) and the upcoming addition of Apple TV to the device ecosystem.

Los more than 4 million homes With Movistar+ they have differential functionalities such as “Recordings”, “Last 7 days” (U7D), “See from the beginning” or “Live control”, used by 83% of customers and which are highly appreciated (with a rating of 9 out of 10 in surveys). These features are changing television consumption habits, eliminating the differentiation between Live and On Demand.

Regarding the evolution of quality, it is worth highlighting Movistar's commitment to UHD content, with two football matches every weekend, to which in March we will have to add the Champions League and Formula 1 matches and the new original production series.

The evolution of the offer can be seen in the launch of Movistar+ Lite (a proposal that does not require connectivity with Movistar) and with the opening of new content to watch without being registered, such as program clips or first chapters of series.

In addition to the decoder, 4.5 million devices access the Movistar+ application monthly, with the majority of devices being used on SmartTVs, HDMI devices and mobile phones. In addition, a third of customers regularly use Movistar+ on their personal devices.

New Voice Control

Another improvement of the Movistar television platform is the launch next February 24 by one new Voice Control which allows the user to interact with the Movistar+ television service using voice in a simple way.

This new remote connects to the decoder (UHD and UHD Smart WiFi) not only through infrared connectivity but also via Bluetooth, which allows you to use Aura, Telefónica's virtual assistant with artificial intelligence, to interact with the Movistar+ service. In addition, Bluetooth technology allows you to expand the coverage area of the remote control, since the decoder receives the command issued without it being necessary for there to be direct “visibility” between both devices.

Among other functions, by using your voice the remote allows you to more comfortably carry out the main actions of the television interface, such as tuning to a channel or performing searches (by title, participants, genre or type of content, in the channel programming grid...). It also allows you to request recommendations or carry out actions on content, such as tuning to a channel, watching from the beginning or directly playing a media. However, the controller's vocal interaction capabilities are constantly evolving and new functionalities will be added to improve and enrich the experience.

To use voice navigation, it is as simple as the user holding down the “Aura” key while speaking.

Another feature of this new Voice Control that has been very well received in user tests has been the backlighting of the keys, which makes it possible to use it in poorly lit environments.

The new controller can be purchased from February 24 through Movistar's usual sales channels, through the website, by telephone and soon in stores. It costs 10 euros, although it will be delivered free of charge when hiring a UHD or UHD Smart WiFi decoder.
