Ikegami launches BSX-100 3G fiber base station
It will provide a consistent upgrade path for broadcasters and production companies as they progress from SDI to IP, from standard dynamic range to high dynamic range and from high definition to dual format HD/4K workflow.
Ikegami will incorporate in the third quarter of this year to its range of broadcast solutions the new BSX-100, a 3G fiber base station offering a consistent upgrade path for broadcasters and production companies as they progress from SDI to IP, from standard dynamic range to high dynamic range and from high definition to dual format HD/4K workflow.
The BSX-100 is completely compatible with Unicam HD system cameras from Ikegami, including the HDK-99 and HDK-73. It will also be compatible with future 4K cameras by Ikegami. In its standard form, the base station provides 3G-SDI/HD-SDI HD output.
The interface SMPTE ST.2110 Media over IP It is available as an option for use on 10GbE and 25GbE networks. Also available as an option is a 4K output software dongle that allows the use of HD cameras in a variety of configurations including simultaneous production in HD and 4K resolutions. Complementary 12G-SDI/3G-SDI quad-link interfaces are also available. This approach allows 3G camera systems to be integrated into 4K environments easily and cost-effectively.
High dynamic range video is possible with very high quality reproduction of dark to bright areas, as well as a wide color gamut. BSX-100 provides full support for Hybrid Log Gamma in accordance with the standard ITU-R BT.2100 which is the international standard for HDR. The base station optionally includes the HDR to SDR conversion and can work in any desired combination of HD or 4K resolution and SDR or HDR simultaneously.
Housed in a 3U high, half-rack width unit, the BSX-100 fiber base station is designed for easy integration into mobile units and other locations where space is limited. Base station status, cable status, optical signal status, count and alarms are displayed on the front panel, which also provides quick access for feedback audio. A USB port is included on the front panel for software updates and local device charging.
The connectivity The rear panel includes, among others, two 12G-SDI outputs, two SFP slots for the SMPTE ST.2110 IP interface, eight HD-SDI outputs, four HD return inputs, reference input and output, AES/sync output, one LAN port plus connections for multi-pin communications and remote control. Also on the back is the camera's hybrid fiber cable port and XLR audio outputs.
