Panasonic Kairos, the new IT/IP live production platform
Kairos breaks the inherited limits of traditional hardware and has open software, which means it can display components of different programs.
Panasonic lanza Kairos, a IT/IP live audiovisual production platform next generation. Kairos significantly increases the quality and productivity of live audiovisual production and real-time video delivery services for broadcasters and producers of professional sporting events, concerts and other events.
Kairos breaks the limits inherited from traditional hardware and it has open software, which means that you can view components of different programs. The platform can be the central element of a production receiving broadcasts from multiple sources and broadcasting them on a large number of projectors, screens and LED video walls, for example.
The new platform runs on both CPU and GPU architecture, enabling extremely low system latency of just one frame, while ensuring excellent system flexibility and scalability.
It not only supports signals from baseband as SDI, but also with many other video input and output signals, including ST 2110 y IS. With full support for the latest IP technology, Kairos helps make remote live audiovisual production a reality. The platform also supports PTP sync (Precision Time Protocol), allowing you to capture the immediacy and atmosphere of sporting events as well as musical performances in live videos.
Kairos also represents a new milestone in terms of ease of use thanks to the extraordinary design of Kairos Creator, its intuitive graphical user interface. Within this interface, it is capable of managing an unlimited number of video layers and an infinite number of MEs or embeds as is the case on conventional hardware platforms, while the canvas screen does not present any restrictions in terms of resolution or format.
Panasonic has also developed a hardware panel called Kairos Control, supports the move toward remote production because both Kairos Creator and Kairos Control can be added to a network anywhere an operator or engineer needs to be. This control panel is also very easy to use and allows the user to assign the operation, making audiovisual production possible in a minimum of space.
To take full advantage of the rapidly evolving broadcast software and hardware ecosystem, Panasonic has launched a program called Kairos Alliance Partners through which Kairos will be designated as the de facto standard for next-generation audiovisual production platforms. In addition to the possibility of operation with Panasonic's famous broadcast camera systems, projectors and screens, this program will integrate and connect with products from other manufacturers. Using this system, Panasonic promotes the new concept of Smart Live Production, in which Kairos plays a central role in fostering “creativity.”
Panasonic plans to continue developing and expanding its platform, as well as continuing to add new value that may be useful to people working in live video production or broadcasting.
Great flexibility
Kairos allows flexible combination of different input and output interfaces such as ST 2110, NDI and SDI with a wide variety of video formats. It fully supports baseband signals (12G/3G/HD-SDI, HDMI, Display Port) and IP packets (ST 2110, NDI, RTP). In addition, it is possible to connect an unlimited number of inputs and outputs. Allows the same multi-input operation as when
In the case of HD (3G), it is possible to use simultaneously up to 32 inputs and 16 independent outputs. In the case of 4K (UHD), up to 8 inputs and 4 independent outputs can be used at the same time.
Their two multi-screen outputs (Display Port) can display up to 36 images. In addition, it supports PTP (Precision Time Control) synchronization and allows the use of ST 2110-based systems.
GPU processing
Kairos stands out for its great GPU processing flexibility, such as layered effects with an unlimited number of MEs or keys and raw CANVAS.
With the new Panasonic proposal There are no restrictions on the number of MEs or inlays. You can use as many layers as the GPU's capabilities allow, and keying, scaling, and other effects can be applied. It also provides a matte color feature.
The CANVAS function (optional) allows you to produce videos in a special format, such as 32:9 (for video wall viewing), in addition to the standard 16:9 format. The multiviewer displays videos in special formats in their original format.
The processing latency can be reduced to a single frame. Live images of sporting events and musical performances can be captured with the on-site atmosphere intact.
It also incorporates a RAM recorder (8-ch, uncompressed) and Media Player (HD 2-ch, compressed) to enable playback in the video file system itself and their use as video sources. It also supports still image files.
Intuitive interface
Its graphical user interface is very intuitive, with a control panel with user-assignable keys, software-based operability and expandability.
PC software Kairos Creator includes a very intuitive graphical user interface. The interface control panel can be displayed for operation in a minimum of space.
The inclusion of application software expands the functions or allows the connection of external devices, which allows an efficient design of the system based on the use and user needs, in addition to ensuring future expandability.
Finally, note that the program Kairos Alliance Partners has been launched to promote collaboration with IT and video manufacturers and suppliers. The program encourages the addition of software to expand functions and connect external devices.
