Santiago Segura signs with Amazon Prime Video for the new comedy show 'LOL: If you laugh, you lose'

Adaptation of the popular Japanese program Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documentary, the Spanish version will be produced by Endemol Shine Iberia.

Amazon Prime Video today announced a new Amazon Original comedy show that will feature Santiago Segura. In this contest, Segura will challenge ten famous Spanish comedians to see who can stay serious and at the same time try to make their opponents laugh in a competition for a grand prize of 100,000 euros. LOL: If you laugh, you lose will premiere next year exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, and will be available in more than 240 countries and territories.

This new Amazon Original production of six episodes will follow the group of comedians as they compete to be the last to laugh. For six hours, there is only one rule: if you laugh, you lose. The comedian who remains serious the longest will be the winner and will be able to donate 100,000 euros to a charity of their choice. Each of the stars, yet to be announced, is characterized by various styles of comedy: from stand-up, the world of acting, entertainment or the digital environment, among others.

LOL: If you laugh, you lose is produced by Endemol Shine Iberia (a Banijay company) and has Miguel Martín as showrunner. This new production is an adaptation of the popular Japanese Amazon Original program, Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documentary, produced and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto who leads ten comedians in a “battle of laughter” behind closed doors; a successful format that has since been replicated exclusively for Prime Video in Mexico (presented by Eugenio Derbez) and Australia (presented by Rebel Wilson).
