Croatian broadcaster HRT installs the first Spidercam on a news set

The cable-suspended system allows for dynamic moving shots with augmented reality graphics in your daily newscasts.

HRT, the Croatian national public broadcaster, has started using a cable camera system Spidercam Light of Newton in their daily news. This permanent installation has been launched by the production company Croatel, and with it they are producing moving shots with augmented reality several times a day.

The set has two tables that the Spidercam flies over during the live broadcast. Another dynamic effect is augmented reality for the two set extensions and the display of infographics between the presenters.

The system is used both in the news at 12, 7 and 11 PM, the 5 PM preview and two weather bulletins. Some shots are standardized with Spidercam's motion recording features but most operations are done live by Croatian operators in cooperation with HRT camera operators.

This is the first production to use a Newton stabilized camera system to create dynamic shots for live news broadcasts.
