The African Nations Championship starts with Gredos de Sapec as a satellite contribution solution
The video quality of the compressed signal, low latency, reliability and ease of operation have been key factors for COCAN 20-21 to award Sapec the project.
He African Nations Championship 2020 (CHAN 2020-21) Organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), it has started with four venues, three cities and 16 participating nations. Originally this championship was going to be held from April 4 to 25, 2020 in Cameroon. However, CAF, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, chose to postpone it until January and February 2021. From the opening match on January 16 to the final, all matches will have Gredos technology from Sapec to transport the signal by satellite to different transmission centers around the world.
The Spanish company was awarded this project after a long evaluation process that included the visit of a delegation of Cameroonian government officials to Sapec's headquarters in Madrid. This delegation was made up of experts from the Ministry of Communications of Cameroon (MINCOM), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL) as well as the responsible coordinator of the Cameroon CHAN20 and CAN21 committee (COCAN 20-21). During this visit, an exhaustive study of the GREDOS solution was carried out with a focus on the technical characteristics, production procedure and quality certifications.
Each of the seven kits delivered consists of two units of Sapec's Gredos solution, in 1 + 1 configuration with RF switch.
Javier Verduch Golfe, business developer at Sapec, highlights that "once again, Sapec technology reaches new international territories. The supply of equipment in such an important CAF competition is a great reference for Sapec on the African continent. We are proud that this solution has been trusted, especially because the technical comments have been excellent. The video quality of the compressed signal, low latency, reliability and ease of operation were key factors for Sapec to win this project."
Gredos has the ability to work in HEVC, H.264 and MPEG2 both in 4:2:2 as in 4:2:0 for HDTV and SDTV. With SDI input, ASI, RF and IP output interface. The IP interface supports both unicast and multicast sending and receiving. It accepts UDP / RTP streams and offers the possibility of issuing and receiving FECs for error correction under the SMPTE2022 standard. A very reliable DSNG solution for DVB-S / S2x contributions or even DTT Distribution with the version that has an integrated DVB / ATSC / ISDB modulator.
Sapec has delivered more than 500 units in the last five years of these solutions that are in daily operation in different countries.
