AEQ launches Talent, an essential tool for doing radio from anywhere

This ultra-compact IP audiocodec delivers high-quality, OPUS-encoded audio from a microphone to the studio console, with return to headphones.

After almost a year dealing with contributions from the homes of radio announcers and collaborators, with the technical complexity that entails, now AEQ launches a tool that will simplify this task by making the sound of the interventions almost indistinguishable from that generated in the study.

AEQ's new proposal transmits high-quality audio, with OPUS encoding, from a microphone to the studio console, and returns to the headphones.

The equipment has other extremely useful complementary features such as the possibility of adding a stereo signal from an external connector to the microphone and a high-quality Bluetooth connection, which allows you to broadcast and comment on concerts, sports or other events, or play audio lists from a phone or PC and present them.

If the Bluetooth connection is made with a phone, telephone interviews can be carried out, either with a conventional call, or if we want more quality, through applications such as Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom and others. The calls can be incorporated into the program that is sent to the station.

To send the audio to the station, a home Internet connection can be used, for example
ADSL or fiber, or a 3G/4G/5G wireless data connection through a simple router/modem with SIM card.

And in situations where there is no IP connection, through the same Bluetooth channel and the smartphone, high definition voice quality (HD voice) can be reached to the studio PC to introduce the audio into the program.

Light and friendly

Talent presents a desktop format and is light and small, about 600 grams and a front of about 20 x 13 cm. less than half a sheet of A4 paper.

It has a simple front control panel with microphone and headphone level regulation, call/off-hook button, hang-up button, outgoing and incoming signal level indicators and other basic indicators of the equipment and communication status.

And also the “Help” button will draw the attention of the station operator. Because the equipment does not need to be operated by the announcer, since all the front panel controls are available in two applications: a local one for smartphone, Talent Pilot, which in addition to controlling the equipment, also allows you to configure it and establish the connection, if the person in charge has the knowledge to do so; and another remote, Control Phoenix, which allows the remote configuration and operation of a fleet of Talent audiocodecs and other AEQ stationary and portable devices, so that the user only speaks and does not need to touch any button.

Also note that Talent can be delivered to the user pre-configured and ready for use, or it can be configured and controlled locally or remotely.

What microphones and headphones to use?

Headphones and microphones can be chosen freely. In the case of headphones, low or high impedance and dynamic and condenser microphones can be used, since it has a Phantom power supply.
