Antonio Fernández-Paniagua (5G Forum)

The celebration of the fourth edition of the 5GForum of Spain, the days May 4, 5 and 6, organized by Medina Media Events, which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner and which has brought together the main agents of this new technology annually since 2018, will arrive at a key moment to analyze the situation and actions in the frequency bands identified in the European Union as priorities for the 5G development: the band 700 MHz, the band 3,5 GHz, and the band 26 GHz, one of the most anticipated topics in 2021 in the telecommunications sector: the auctions of 5G frequencies.

The 700 MHz band, with enormous commercial and industrial possibilities, has been freed in 2020 after public and private television stations had to abandon it last year following the new distribution of the radio spectrum marked by the European Commission. The auction of this band was initially scheduled for summer 2020, but as a result of the pandemic, the Government of Spain informed the European Commission of its postponement to spring 2021.

The person in charge of explaining at the 5G Forum the details of the situation and actions in the priority bands for 5G, among which is the 700 MHz band, whose public consultation on the conditions of the tender for it has already been held and which is expected to be published in the BOE soon, will be the top expert in Spain on the matter, Antonio Fernández-Paniagua, Deputy Director General of Planning and Management of the Radio Spectrum of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, headed by the vice president Nadia Calvino.

Fernández-Paniagua, who will open the second day of the main specific event on 5G in Spain, will give the details of the actions in the priority 5G bands, actions that are included in the measures contemplated in the Strategy to Promote 5G technology, published on December 1, 2020.

The General Director of Telecommunications, Maite Arcos, will inaugurate the 5GForum to share with all attendees the 5G Strategy and Promotion Plan that will dedicate 2,000 million euros of European funds between now and 2025.

The first day of the 5G Forum 2021, on Tuesday, May 4, will be dedicated to the big projects, national and international 5G, with the help of European and national authorities, and the world's leading multinationals, also introducing a global view of 6G.

The second day, Wednesday, May 5, will focus on the progress of the 5G and audiovisual; and the third, on Thursday, May 6, to the pilots that are being developed in Spain by companies and universities.

Currently in Spain they are developing more than 50 research projects on 5G and the most relevant will be presented at the 5G Forum, the most important specialized and academic event in Spain on 5G technology, in which Spanish companies, multinationals and public institutions annually present their advances and pilot projects to society.

Another of the great novelties of this year's edition, regarding the 5G Forum 2020, is that in addition to the presentations, sponsors will have the possibility of holding question and answer sessions with attendees and invited clients, demos, webinars and One2One meetings, with the new platform created by Medina Media Events and which was already launched at the 4K Summit 2020, the main world meeting on Ultra High Definition (UHD), and the Extenda Global last November.
