San Sebastián -Movistar+ - Cristina Burzako and José Luis Rebordinos

The new publishing alliance of San Sebastian Festival y Movistar+ It materializes in the Zinemaldia Movistar+ Virtual Room, defined as “another room of the festival.”

The initiative has been presented at an event held at the Film Academy in which they have been present Cristina Burzako, CEO of Movistar+ and José Luis Rebordinos, director of the San Sebastián Festival.

The Sala Virtual Cinema Movistar+ marks the first time in Spain that a platform hosts a class A festival theater. This initiative will offer the platform's clients the experience of a movie theater with an offer of films that are presented for the first time at the San Sebastián Festival and, simultaneously, on Movistar+. The inclusion of this virtual room is, according to Burzako, “a responsibility so that clients can access the San Sebastián Festival from anywhere in Spain”, alluding to the persistence of Covid-19.

The films that can be seen through the Zinemaldia Movistar+ Virtual Room come from the sections "Perlas", "Zabaltegi-Tabakalera", "Horizontes Latinos", "Made in Spain" y "Cinema".

Among other proposals, they will be “projected” On a dock in Normandy by Emmanuel Carrère, Little Mom by Céline Call the Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, from the “Pearls” section; The employee and the thief by Manuel Nieto, from the “Latin Horizons” section; or Dead man does not know how to live by Ezekiel Montes Or by Julia de Paz, both from the Made in Spain section.

The Zinemaldia Movistar+ Virtual Room will be included in the Festival Space of San Sebastián, available on the platform from Friday, September 17, the same opening day of the event. The space will also offer more successful films that have participated in previous editions of the Festival and films starring in this year's Donostia awards, Marion Cotillard y Johnny Depp.

In the current edition of the San Sebastián Festival there will be a notable presence of original Movistar+ productions.

Fortune, by Alejando Amenábar, will be the only series present in the official section and will be seen complete in the Kursaal Auditorium. This is a large international production made in association with AMC Studios and in collaboration with MOD Pictures. The cast is led by the Spanish Álvaro Mel, Ana Polvorosa and Karra Elejalde along with the Americans Stanley Tucci, Clarke Peters and the British T'Nia Miller. This action and adventure series tells the adventures of a young Spanish diplomat to recover a sunken treasure in the Gulf of Cádiz that has been looted by a modern North American pirate.

Other formats that will premiere in San Sebastián are The footprints of elBulli, documentary that traces the legacy of Ferran Adrià and that will inaugurate the “Culinary Zinema” section; and Raphaelismo, the first documentary series about the singer Raphael that has your direct involvement.
