Mediaset España, awarded at the HbbTV Awards 2021 for the technological developments of Mitele and LOVEStv
The jury of the HbbTV Association has recognized at the HbbTv Awards 2021 Mediaset for initiatives such as the launch of the Mitele version for Smart TV, apps for sporting events such as the 2018 World Cup in Russia or the UEFA Euro 2020, the LOVEStv content platform and advertising formats adapted to connected television, among others.
Mediaset España has been the only Spanish audiovisual company to win one of the five awards granted at the event held last week in Paris, within the framework of the 9th HbbTV Symposium and Awards, the most important event of the year dedicated to this technology. In it, they attended 27 applications from countries such as Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia and the Russian Federation, among others. In addition, the group was also nominated with Mitele, through the supplier Dotscreen, in the category of Best tool or product for the development or distribution of HbbTV services.
The award granted by the HbbTV Association recognizes the adaptation carried out by Mediaset España in recent years in the HbbTV environment, with the deployment of different initiatives such as the launch of the version of Mitele for Smart TV, of applications developed specifically for major sporting events such as the 2018 World Cup in Russia or the UEFA Euro 2020, of the LOVEStv content platform and of advertising formats adapted to connected television.
Throughout this year, Mediaset España has taken new steps around this technology, visible both from the point of view of usability as of management of audiovisual and advertising content, destacando el rediseño de un look&feel más moderno, intuitivo y con nuevas funcionalidades del ‘gancho’ de acceso a sus principales aplicaciones, con la capacidad adicional de incluir autopromociones inteligentes; la incorporación de nuevas opciones publicitarias que permiten una mayor precisión en la targetización, presentación y medición de su efectividad; y las implementaciones en el entorno de LOVEStv que permiten, por un lado, insertar publicidad en la actualización de los contenidos emitidos y, por otro, la mejora de la experiencia del usuario en el consumo de programas. Además, Mitele se ha incorporado a más modelos de Smart TV, completando la presencia de la plataforma en todo tipo de soportes digitales.
This recognition also supports the safe environment condition for Mediaset España brands, which has the support of its own and external laboratories such as Cellnex y Optiva Media to guarantee the quality and correct functioning of its technological developments.
New advertising formats
Throughout the year, Mediaset España has launched new advertising formats adapted to this technology, such as Open Smart TV, a premium product of maximum notoriety made up of a single spot broadcast when opening the Mitele app for Smart TV. A solution that reinforces the commercial offer for Mediaset España's HbbTV, called Ad Smart, which has products such as Ad Switch, an L-shaped overlay format that appears when switching on or changing the channel; Ad Peak, a similar format that is integrated into a specific moment of content; and Ad Spot, superimposed during the broadcast of the linear TV spot.
Regarding LOVEStv, Mediaset España offers the market the products Spot Catch Up, issued at the moment in which content from the last seven days is going to be consumed in pre roll, mid roll and post roll positions; and Spot Start Over, in which advertising appears when content is to be consumed from the beginning in pre-roll and post-roll positions.
