Riedel - Czech TV - Mobile unit - OB Van

Czech TV has renewed its HD1 mobile unit with a wide selection of solutions Riedel: MediorNet Micron UHD, SmartPanel, Bolero…

MediorNet MicroN UHD is key to the renewed mobile unit HD1. Riedel's distribution solution will replace the traditional router with a more “compact, intelligent and versatile” distributed routing system, according to the brand itself. Smart Informatics has been the company responsible for integrating this and many other solutions that will enhance future productions of Czech TV.

Beyond the two units Riedel MicroN deployed like stage boxes, the four bases MicroN equipped with the processing application to serve as up/down/cross converters, and the 20 systems MicroN UHD (six of which are equipped with the app Multiviewer), Czech TV's updated truck also features a node Artist-1024; four multifunctional interfaces SmartPanel RSP-1232HL for rack mounting; 20 compact SmartPanel interfaces RSP-1216HL from 1-RU; four desktop panels SmartPanel DSP-2312, and a wireless intercom system Bolero which supports eight beltpacks. HD1 is already up and running with its new Riedel team, supporting the production of a major horse racing event and the Czech edition of Dancing With the Stars.

A tight deadline

Michal Kratochvil, CTO of Czech TV, considers that one of the main challenges of this integration was completing it in a “very tight deadline.” The decision to go with Riedel was easy: “We had already experienced the flexibility of MediorNet before starting this project, as we use portable MediorNet systems for our special projects.” On the other hand, Tomas Vesely, general director of Smart Informaticsclarifies that thanks to this new distributed system design, television will be able to “adapt more quickly to any production, and its production team enjoys a much more spacious work area.”

Finally, Ismet Bozkurt, senior sales executive for Eastern Europe at Riedel, points towards the standardization of MicroN on future integrations: "We are seeing immense interest in MicroN UHD as broadcasters, production companies, integrators and others recognize the many benefits of implementing a distributed infrastructure for video routing instead of a conventional router. Integrators can more quickly and easily deploy a complete routing system, and production teams see improvements in all daily operations."
