Moscow TV Center incorporates two Dominator AT/3G servers from SlomoTv in its main mobile unit

This update will allow the Russian broadcaster in its main mobile unit to offer super slow motion and instant replays based on the signal from up to 32 cameras.

Slomo.Tv you have installed two production servers Dominator AT/3G in the main mobile unit of the Moscow-based broadcaster Tv Center. The installation of these servers is a key element of the important mobile unit upgrade which will allow processing a variety of new video and data formats, such as 3G, as well as continuing to support legacy formats. TV Cemter specified a production workflow capable of handling DVCPro HD and AVC Intra video files, which are standard features of Slomo.tv's Dominator AT/3G server.

Already installed and in service, both server systems support 32 cameras within the mobile unit environment where space saving is a priority. A key feature of the Dominator AT/3G installation that helps save rack space is the unit's internal multi-display.

After the update, the TV Center mobile can record up to 24 channels of HD video using the ProRes 422/DVCPro HD codec or 16 channels with 100Mbit XAVC codec. In playback mode, the two servers can support four operator stations with six individual cameras at each workplace. The servers are connected by a 10 Gb network to facilitate the sharing of clips and playlists.

Using 8 DMRs and 3.5″ SATA spin drives, the Dominator AT/3G records incoming video in native disk formats, which can be physically extracted and transported to non-linear editing systems, while the 10GbE interface allows recording to an external NAS file, providing additional redundancy to the system.

Alexei Brusnitsky, CTO of Moscow Broadcast Center, acknowledges that "we are very happy with our choice of the Dominator AT/3G playback servers, and we are also very happy with the overall service and support from Slomo.tv. They did excellent training for all of our operators, so switching to the new systems was very easy."

The Dominator AT/3G production server series was introduced at NAB 2017 and offers advanced slow motion and instant playback capabilities, as well as direct ‘on-site’ recording for editing. With the new software, it supports up to 12 3G/HD/SD channels in playback mode, four playback channels and powerful search on all 12 recorded channels simultaneously without interrupting the core recording and playback functions. In recording for edit mode, this server can record up to 16 channels of SDI video.

Building on the success of previous models, the new line offers improved playback capabilities. Additionally, two operators can work simultaneously on the same unit. Since the system has four independent graphic outputs, each operator can work with the main GUI and with separate monitoring at the same time. The multi-display offers 5 different modes and allows the operator to observe different combinations of recording, playback and search channels without limitation on the number of video windows.

Importantly, when operating in SuperMo mode, the new Dominator AT/3G can simultaneously support up to four Sony, Hitachi or GVG 3X Super Motion cameras, or alternatively up to three Panasonic 4X Super Motion AK-H5000 cameras.
