Ross Video - Van Wagner - NFL - SoFi Stadium - 2022

Possibly one of the biggest annual sporting events, the big NFL game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, was produced by Ross Video and Van Wagner for the fifth year in a row.

The new SoFi Stadium is set to deliver an “unforgettable” video experience for spectators. The venue, opening in autumn 2020, features a network of LED panels on the outside of the roof to project images visible to flights flying in and out of nearby Los Angeles Airport. Once inside the venue, the centrepiece is the 360-degree infinity board, which spans 120 metres and contains almost 80 million pixels. Since SoFi is a Ross Video technology-driven venue, XPression Tessera engines were tasked with coordinating content to all of the stadium’s LED screens. In the production control room, two Ultrix Acuity provided a hyper-converged production solution that merges switching, routing, multi-view and signal processing on a single platform.

The system was complemented by a Piero Live for contained graphics analysis, virtual down and distance line generation and replay control, the latter made possible by the integration of the Mira replay system. In addition, the Voyager graphics rendering solution, powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, provided augmented reality (AR) graphics for the event. Along with Acid cameras, Furio robotic camera heads and the Lucid Studio control system, Voyager highlighted scoring units and other Next Gen Stats content to keep fans’ attention DashBoard, Ross Video’s venue control software, was responsible for unifying all Ross Video elements present in the stadium.

Bob Becker, executive vice president of Van Wagner, believes their partnership with Ross Video for this significant NFL game “was special”. “Each year, we try to show the crowd something that they’ve never seen before, and with the infinity screen at the center of this year’s show, we felt that we were able to deliver a world-class fan experience,” he said. In parallel, Kevin Cottam, vice president of sports and live events at Ross, was delighted to be working with Van Wagner and the NFL again on this event: “Each year, we try to show the crowd something that they’ve never seen before, and with the infinity screen at the center of this year’s show, we felt that we were able to deliver a world-class fan experience.”
