Telstra will expand its broadcast services with Cinegy
The Australian Telstra Broadcast Services (TBS) will expand its offering of broadcast and playout services based on the technology of Cinegy, a German company specialized in software for digital video processing, asset management, compression, automation and playout.
Solutions like Cinegy Air, known for its scalability and efficiency as well as its intuitive usability, will form the backbone of Telstra's playout service offering.
The global media industry is expanding towards Cloud and software-defined capabilities. The addition of new playout capabilities, running on Cinegy software modules, to TBS' existing global fiber and satellite networks will enable Telstra to meet the changing needs of the broadcast market.
Daniella Weigner, CEO of Cinegy, acknowledges that "we are delighted to work with Telstra to help them offer cloud-based broadcast services and associated services. The use of Cinegy technology together with Telstra's workflow innovations will provide broadcasters with incredible flexibility to manage their content offering through virtual environments, helping them to deploy new services and channels to respond to special events, programming opportunities and new markets in these changing times."
Andreas Eriksson, director of Telstra Broadcast Services, notes that "by partnering with Cinegy, Telstra Broadcast Services is able to remove the shackles of traditional hardware-based solutions and CAPEX cycles that stifle innovation. Our MediaCloud solution is leading the way by providing the ability to drive software with rapid and continuous development cycles, which is really powerful for our customers, enabling scale through innovation, responsive changes and agile workflows for new and existing offerings."
