Harmonic's VOS 360 and XOS become compatible with HDR10+
Harmonic has been revealed within the framework of NAB 2022 that its VOS 360 cloud streaming platform and the XOS advanced multimedia processing solution become compatible with HDR10+.
HDR10+ is a high dynamic range (HDR) technology that is supported by more than 130 companies. Harmonic's newly added tool adds dynamic metadata to HDR10 source files to optimize the color contrast and image details of each frame of HDR video for consumer viewing capabilities. The result is an image that more closely represents the original creative intention of the directors. As presented within the framework of NAB 2022, the first test of HDR10+ technology on the cloud streaming platform VOS360 is underway with Evokes, an affordable pay TV service that uses both Nextgen TV's local stations and Internet-streamed programming delivered to subscribers and integrated into a single user interface.
Bill Mandel, co-director of HDR10+ Technologies, welcomes the firm's support for the solution: "Harmonic is a pioneer in improving video experiences by adding HDR10+ support to the VOS360 platform. We are looking forward to seeing the results of Evoca's HDR10+ test and are confident that viewers will be amazed by the incredible range of colors and details that HDR and HDR10+ video bring to Nextgen's television experiences."
Beyond publicizing the inclusion of HDR10+, Harmonic is showcasing its latest broadcast and transmission innovations in the W8434 and W8436 suites of NAB 2022.
