The Film Academy has hosted the award ceremony to the Madrid producer and distributor José María Morales of the first Rayo Verde award, an initiative of the institution and Greenpeace to recognize Spanish film professionals for their commitment to environmental and social values.

Mariano Barroso, president of the Film Academy, considers that there was “no better way to start” with this Award Green Lightning “than delivering it to the most important Spanish producer and distributor of nature films in our country.” Immediately afterwards, an excited Morales, which thanked the two entities promoting the award “for being pioneers worldwide in recognizing these principles,” cited Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente (“we are all children of Félix, who changed the way I see the world”), Jacques Cousteau already Luis Blas Aritio (“a very important person in the nature of this country”) as their references. He also remembered the naturalists, filmmakers, editors, sound engineers and musicians with whom he has filmed films, documentaries and series: Jacques Perrin, Joaquín Gutiérrez Acha, Joaquín Araujo, Gerardo Olivares, Carlos de Hita, Andoni Canela, Juan Ferro, Victoria de la Vega, Iván Aledo y Carmen Rodriguez, among many others.

Dedicated to showcasing nature and animals in the last two decades, Morales received the award from the producer Ana Amigo y Eva Saldana, director of Greenpeace Spain. "Like José María Morales, I want a habitable planet in which we can have a green and peaceful world. I think we have disconnected from what we are, we are nature, and your productions have been helping us move forward in that relationship of reconnecting with it," he said. Saldaña, who thanked the Academy for its commitment “to be greener every day,” as he added Amigo.
