Valencia hosts the first edition of the Summer Campus Film Academy, an initiative through which eight selected directors will receive training, advice and internships so that their projects reflect diversity in the best possible way.

The first vice president of the Film Academy, Rafael Portela; the head of the department dedicated to the investment and development of creative talent at Netflix in Spain, Susana Casares; the director of institutional relations at Netflix, Esperanza Ibanez, and the Councilor for Finance and Economic Development of the Valencia City Council, Borja Sanjuan, welcomed the filmmakers selected in the first edition of this program: Ana Angono, Arnau Vilaró Moncasí, Iñaki Sánchez Arrieta, Marc Ortiz Paredes, Sandra Romero, Tania González García, Jiajie Yu Yan y Marina Rodríguez Colas. All of them will receive training, advice and internships from the filmmakers Montxo Armendáriz, Belén Funes, Santiago A. Zannou, Fernando Franco y Neus Ballús, as well as the producer Valérie Delpierre, among others.

At the inauguration of this initiative organized by the Film Academy with the collaboration of Netflix and the support of Valencia City Council, which takes place in the University of Valencia and in the Polytechnic University of Valencia, her godmother was not missing, Daniela Vega. Summer Campus - Film Academy (Photo: Germán Caballero)Este encuentro es una de las actividades abiertas al público del Campus, que también incluye una jornada dedicada a reflexionar sobre los estereotipos a la hora de incluir a personas de colectivos minorizados en las producciones audiovisuales (‘Incluir la diversidad’ – 8 de julio); un encuentro con jóvenes intérpretes que debatirán sobre la importancia de incluir actores y actrices con diversidad en producciones destinadas al público juvenil (‘Diversidad y series juveniles’ – 14 de julio), o la grabación en directo del podcast ¿Puedo hablar!, presented by Beatriz Cepeda and Enrique Aparicio, which will feature Daniela Vega and Asaari Bibang as guests (July 15). These activities will take place in the Valencia Film Archive.

The activities are completed with two sessions open to audiovisual professionals: 'Communicating diversity', aimed at journalists and cultural informants interested in improving their way of communicating diversity in audiovisuals (July 7) and 'How to make your film accessible' (July 15).
