FORTA is committed to maintaining information coverage about La Palma, venue of its last General Meeting
One year after the eruption of the Tajogaite volcano, the General Board of the FORCE (Federation of Autonomous Radio and Television Organizations or Entities) was held in La Palma as a sign of its support for the reconstruction of the island.
With this meeting, the FORCE wants to keep the informative focus in the La Palma Island, which today still suffers the consequences of the volcanic crisis. According to the federation, this informative milestone was one of the “most notable coverages in the most recent history of the media” and, in it, “the role of the FORTA public media, led by RTVC, should be highlighted.” Their work highlighted “the importance of the public service of the regional chains” which, once again, “has proven essential”, as the members of FORTA wanted to highlight at this General Meeting. “The volcanic eruption has taken local, local information to a global dimension,” the organization points out.
Following this meeting, Francisco Moreno, president of FORCE, sole administrator of RTVC and its commercial companies, has commented: "During the hardest months of the volcanic crisis, we felt the encouragement and accompaniment of the rest of the regional television stations that felt almost as their own what was happening on the island. That they now visit the island and know the consequences up close helps to know that the problems did not end the day the eruption ended, that a stage really began to see how we could solve the problems caused by this unleashed force of nature."
The Federation of Autonomous Radio and Television Organizations or Entities He was involved from the first moment with the crisis unleashed by the eruption of the volcano and with the people of La Palma. FORTA public radio and television broadcast an information and awareness campaign to raise funds for those affected by the volcanic eruption in December 2021. Likewise, several regional channels broadcast the gala 'Everyone with La Palma!', a tribute to RTVC to all those affected by the volcano, and several of its presenters actively participated in this special program from their places of origin.
Canary Islands TV conveyed to readers Panorama Audiovisual How the news coverage of the volcanic eruption developed in an extensive report.
