Artxiboa - San Sebastián Festival - Web Presentation

On the web the archive represents the culmination of the first phase of the Zinemaldia 70 project: all possible stories, started in 2018 by the San Sebastian Festival y Elijah Cherejeta Zine School (EQZE), in order to preserve, study and open to public consultation the historical archive of the Festival, preserved since its foundation in 1953.

the archive, presented by its promoters and collaborators in the Madrid Fine Arts Circle, offers digitizations of more than 3,000 photographs of the Festival's own collection and that of Kutxateka; 711 copies of the Festival newspapers (the current magazine Zinemaldia), of which issues dated between 1954 and the present; 350 posters of practically all its editions, as well as selected materials from the General Archive and Press. The digitizations accessible on the web are published under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license, except in cases where, for copyright reasons, they must be published under other types of more restrictive licenses. Likewise, this new portal that reviews the history of the San Sebastián Festival in detail brings together more than 27,000 material description sheets which may be examined at the request of professionals and specialists in the teaching and research fields starting in January 2023.

Archive - Festival de San Sebastián - WebThe website is made up of different sections that allow us to travel through the 70 years of the Festival's life. In the section called 70 editions It is possible to consult the data of each edition, year by year; Research includes section Histories (informative essays prepared from archive materials) and includes in digital version the photographic exhibitions held to date, in addition to containing information on the public programs it has promoted. Film Festival 70; in Digital Collections the section is grouped The document of the month, Festival diaries, posters and photographs; Catalog includes search engines for the general public and for professionals, and Visit and consult the archive provides information on how to access the material both online as in person.

In addition to guaranteeing the long-term conservation of the collection and allowing its accessibility, the main aim of this first phase of the project has been to generate a living archive, a space for reflection and discussion about the past, present and future of the Festival open to critical dialogues with contemporary thought, research and creation.
