Phabrix QxLs will allow Cobalt to further develop ST 2110 IP solutions
Cobalt Digital has purchased four QxL rasterizers from Phabrix, which will be used to support the development and testing of IP ST 2110 products.
As a founding member of the openGear initiative, Cobalt Digital manufactures multiple openGear compatible solutions, as well as video and audio processing for subtitle compliance, audio volume processing, color correction, signal transport and much more. To undertake these developments, Cobalt relies on Phabrix for “many years”.
Recently, the company has expanded its inventory with four QxL rasterizers. Inheriting all of the JT-NM's proven features from its predecessor, the Qx, the QxL supports both JT-NM TR-1001-1:2020 generation and analysis, ST 2110-20 (video), up to four 2110-30 (PCM) or 2110-31 (AES transport) audio, and one 2110-40 ANC media stream, all with 2022-7 (SIPS) along with AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05.
Ryan Wallenberg, vice president of engineering at Cobalt Digital, notes that the acquisition of the new QxL rasterizers responds directly to the expansion of its operations, a process that includes new offices and increased production requirements. Likewise, Wallenberg, who defines Phabrix products as “versatile, reliable and consistent,” highlights some QxL features such as their “remote access capabilities along with APIs, in-depth analysis functions and built-in generators,” which have been “especially valuable to our engineers throughout the development of successive products.”
On the other hand, Phillip Adams, CEO of Phabrix, celebrates continuing to maintain his great relationship with Cobalt Digital: "We have had a great relationship with Cobalt Digital for some time, and it has been great to see them getting so much use out of their Phabrix inventory. We are delighted that they have now decided to invest in four units of the QxL."
