Genelec expands its The Main Ones range with the 8381A model

The 45th anniversary of Genelec continues with the launch of a new model for The Main Ones family: the 8381A monitor, defined as a “flagship system”.

He 8381A of Genelec is a vertical intelligent active monitoring solution with technology Adaptive Point Source (Adaptive Point Source), which allows combining “exceptional” precision with “unrivaled” low frequency control. Designed for music recording, mixing and mastering, the 8381A coaxial system is based on the technology of 'The Ones' point source monitors and adaptive woofer system W371A.

The 8381A seeks to offer a substantial performance improvement, coloration-free response and both on- and off-axis directivity control, with a response range in Ultra wide frequency ranging from 20 Hz to 35 kHz. Additionally, the solution offers almost 6 kW amplification power and a sound pressure level of 126 dB, “the highest figure ever achieved” for a precision point source acoustic design.

Key to the Genelec 8381A is the Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDCTM) and its high sound pressure level for treble and midrange, which shares an acoustic axis with its four 5-inch domes functioning as a mid-range transduction system. Likewise, to further enhance and extend low-frequency reproduction, the 8381A features a pair of high-performance 15-inch woofers that use adaptive technology originally developed in the W371, offering high resolution and a “very high” level of control in low frequency. This response minimizes acoustic cancellations and reduces harmful reflections and resonances on the walls, ceiling and floor of the room.

As part of Genelec's Smart Active Monitoring family, the 8381A integrates with the software GLM, which can configure, calibrate and control any Genelec SAM system. The latest monitor from the Nordic brand also comes with a complete calibration service Sonic Advisor on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the brand.
