Genelec - 8380A - The Main Ones

Genelec launches the new 8380A monitor from the “The Main Ones” series, a model designed for medium-sized spaces where a high level of sound pressure is required, such as recording, mixing and mastering studios.

Presenting a woofer highly linear 380 mm (15 inch) and coaxial mid-high driver with patented technology Genelec MDC (Minimum Diffraction Coaxial), the 8380A offers great dynamics, a very wide headroom, a high SPL capacity and “extremely low” internal noise. The solution stands out by offering precise, time-aligned playback and directivity control, enabling prolonged listening without listening fatigue even at short listening distances.

The enclosure of 8380A deploy two reflex ports Highly linear fronts, which generate clean low-frequency reproduction at high levels, and enable traditional installation of the built-in monitor. The Waveguide for Directivity Control patented by Genelec DCW It houses the MDC mid-high coaxial, which provides a sound without coloration, both on and off axis. The 8380A's time domain performance is also notable, providing the system with low latency phase equivalence with other 8300 series monitors,The Ones y The Main Ones, allowing the user to freely combine SAM models within the same multichannel system.

The innovation of this new model also reaches the RAM-L2 integrated amplification module, whose zero-noise ventilation design incorporates independent Class D amplifiers of 500W y 250W for bass and midrange respectively, and a amplifier 200W Clase AB for the treble. As part of Genelec's commitment to sustainable design, the 8380A offers minimal idle consumption and an intelligent signal manager (ISS) for greater energy savings.

The technical specifications give a frequency response of 29 Hz a 43 kHz, a maximum short-term SPL of 122 dB and a self-generated noise that goes down to 0 dB SPL. The 8380A is conveniently designed with the same physical dimensions as three-way monitors Genelec 1038 and the most modern version SAM 1238.

As part of the SAM family, the 8380A's built-in digital processor integrates with software GLM de Genelec, which allows you to measure, calibrate, configure and control any Genelec SAM system. GLM also includes the room report GRADE, which gives the user a complete analysis of their room and the performance of their monitoring system, providing specific observations and advice for possible acoustic improvements.

Siamäk Naguian, CEO of Genelec, highlights the company's latest release: "For many years, our 1038 monitors, and the newer 1238, have been widely adopted in audiovisual and music post-production rooms to achieve realistic, accurate, high SPL reproduction. With the recent introduction of the 8381A five-way floor monitor, we clearly saw the potential for a more compact three-way design that incorporates our latest coaxial technology in a more traditional flush-mount format. The “8380A fills that gap perfectly, bringing the next generation of midfield performance to the delight of studio professionals and home audio enthusiasts everywhere.”
