EMG Group companies renew four-year contract with Wimbledon Broadcast Services
Aerial Camera Systems (ACS) and EMG Connectivity They extend the existing contracts for four years with Wimbledon Broadcast Services (WBS) to be the specialized provider of cameras and RF equipment of The Championships (Wimbledon), which annually organizes the All England Club.
This two -week tennis event is one of the greatest outdoor sports broadcasts that are held in the United Kingdom and a large project for all the companies involved.
EMG Connectivity has provided the RF services of several broadcasting agencies for several years, but became the exclusive provider of RF cameras when WBS took over the host transmission of The Championships of the BBC in 2018, while ACS has been involved in the site for more than 20 years.
Matt Coyde, ACS Sales Director, states that “when we started working with the BBC in Wimbledon, we only supplied three or four camera systems. That supply has not stopped growing and, when the WBS assumed the paper of the host radio, placed an additional emphasis on the creation of unique shots of the championships placing more remotely by the entire enclosure From the public and the training areas of the players.
The Compact robotic cameras Standard for retransmissions are usually preferred in the historic headquarters of the All England Club in SW19, since its discreet nature minimizes the space requirements and line of vision problems, which makes its use ideal within the confines of the enclosure. This year, the vast majority of camera systems are UHD or HDR 1080P for the first time, since WBS expands the high quality format support from the central track to all championship cameras.
Center Court himself has some notable specialized units, such as a ACS SMARThead Mounted in a 10 -meter railcam placed along the background and hosted in a hiding place built for this purpose, while four other units are mounted on custom chamber supports designed specifically for Wimbledon, including two in the chair of the referee dedicated to the coverage of the players.
In addition to the two tracks on the central track and track No. 1, ACS also supplies rail systems that cover the southern and north slopes of the club. In addition to covering several angles of the game on the track, numerous beauty cameras provide a contextual coverage of the event and include remote cameras of the public, coverage of the players' arrivals area, the aorangi training tracks and the average theater, in addition to topographic shots of the enclosure from a gss stabilized camera mounted on a crane iconic aerial shots of the local zone and the profile of London.
EMG Connectivity, On the other hand, it provides a wide range of equipment and knowledge to both the host and multiple unilateral stations, with the support of a team of six people for fifteen days and more for the assembly and disassembly of the championships. There are 40 antennas distributed throughout the enclosure, which connect to a central radiofrequency cabin on the compound Broadcast, are switched and feed on the corresponding receiving units.
It is a profitable system of multiple zones coverage for events such as Wimbledon and golf events such as the Open and the Ryder Cup. There is also several stations a broad return video system for spacious area for itinerant radiofrequency monitors, which allows them to analyze the images from any point of the enclosure.
One of the challenges for the EMG connectivity equipment is to guarantee a Fluid coverage with RF Steadicam of the Paseo de los Champions From the changing rooms to the entrance of the central track before the party. They also cover the champion from the central track uploading the stairs of the Club house, through the hall to the locker room and to the balcony of the partners to be received by the public. This requires a own reception installation with hidden antennas in the halls and corridors, which provides fissure without fake coverage within the building and adds to the 40 antennas that EMG Connectivity has distributed throughout the enclosure.
"This is the first year that some of the RHB have returned with Wimbledon presentation," he says Chris Brandrick, Commercial Director of EMG Connectivity. "This means that we are going to supply more RF cameras and RF monitors than ever. With our perfect wireless connectivity that binds fans and players, we are sure that we can put the team taller than ever."
"We are delighted to expand our relationship with ACS and EMG Connectivity while we continue to evolve our coverage to offer new quality standards and innovation in Wimbledon's broadcast," he concludes Paul Davies, Director of Retransmission, Production and Rights of the Media of All England Club.
