Atresmedia Cine produces 'Marco', a story of a great deception directed by Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño
Irusoin, Moriarti, The Invented Truth IEA, Atresmedia Cinema and Bteam Pictures are the promoters of 'Marco', a film by Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño ('The Endless Trench', 'Handia', 'Loreak') inspired by the story of Enric Marco, who, for years, made believe that he had been a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp.
Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño, Jorge Gil and Jose Mari Goenaga sign the script of this dramatic thriller inspired by real events. Frame It is the story "of a deportee who never existed, the story of the life of a man who for years was able to maintain, before public opinion and his own family, a lie difficult to imagine: that he had been a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp," he says Atresmedia Cine.
Enric Marco Batlle was a Spanish trade unionist who served as general secretary of the National Confederation of Labor (CNT) and as president of the Amical de Mauthausen in Spain. During his time at the head of the association, Marco gave a large number of talks, mainly in schools, about his alleged experience as a survivor of the Nazi camps. In 2005 he achieved international fame, after a report by the historian Benito Bermejo discovered that he had falsified data from his biography to appear as a survivor of the Flossenbürg concentration camp.
The winner of three Goya awards, Eduard Fernández, is in charge of giving life to Enric Marco. Next to him, the actress Nathalie Poza (Rosa's Wedding, While the war lasts) plays Laura, Marco's wife.
The filming of Frame will take place in several locations in Basque Country, Catalonia, Madrid and Germany. The film is produced by Ander Barinaga-Rementeria, Ander Sagardoy, Xabier Berzosa and Jaime Ortiz de Artiñano and has the participation of the ICAA, Basque Government, Atresmedia Cine, Movistar Plus+ and EITB. Bteam Pictures will distribute the film in Spain and international sales will be handled by Film Factory.
