Spanish clusters promote PLATVR, a creative AI project for virtual sets

PLATVR, an initiative that plans to bring creative AI (artificial intelligence) to virtual sets to boost the XR and virtual production market in Spain, comes to life thanks to the push of the Galician Audiovisual Cluster, he Audiovisual Cluster of Aragon, he Technological Institute of Galicia (ITG), Magic Fennec y The Mo.

Los virtual sets offer a promising solution by allowing filming or broadcasts in a controlled environment and interaction with virtual objects. However, challenges remain related to optimizing the time spent on their capabilities. PLATVR aims to address this challenge, focusing on the automatic image generation that represent scenarios adapted to the specific needs of each production.

In this sense, the initiative seeks to deepen generative AI models for GAN to generate two-dimensional images based on existing designs on the market and real-world images. The project will focus on the application of AI techniques based on Deep learning to convert the selected 2D images in 3D scenarios, which can improve the immersive experience by enabling camera movement on virtual sets.

With the development of PLATVR, the Galician Audiovisual Cluster and the Audiovisual Cluster of Aragon buscan allanar el camino para lograr producción más “eficiente y efectiva” en la industria del entretenimiento. Para ambos agentes, además, este proyecto representa un “hito significativo” en la “convergencia de la tecnología 4.0 y la creatividad audiovisual”.
