The Spanish Network of Audiovisual Clusters (REDCAU) is born, which seeks to join efforts throughout the value chain of the audiovisual industry and energize the subsegments of the sector. The Network is made up of the clusters of the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Galicia, Navarra and the Basque Country.

At the presentation event held this Wednesday at the Ciné Doré in Madrid, people attended the event Roberto Sanchez, Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures (Mº Economic Affairs and digital transformation); Adriana Moscoso del Prado, general director of Cultural Industries, Intellectual Property and Cooperation (Mº Culture and Sport); Beatriz Navas, general director of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA); and Rosa García Loire, as the first president of the REDCAU (at the same time as president of the Audiovisual Cluster of Navarra).

The rest of the REDCAU Board of Directors also attended the presentation at the Filmoteca: the 1st vice president and president of the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia, Miquel Rutllant; the 2nd vice president and president of the Galician Audiovisual Cluster, Jorge Algora; the secretary and president of the Cluster of the audiovisual sector of Euskadi, Aletxu Echevarría. And José Ángel Alayón, president of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster, will serve as treasurer, whose manager, Jairo López, was representing him in Madrid.

Moscoso del Prado has wished luck and strength to the REDCAU as he considers "of vital importance the collaboration networks that allow the audiovisual industry to be structured and identify all those involved in the sector, in order to maximize efforts and investments and optimize results."

Beatriz Navas has also applauded this initiative, whose spirit she hopes will spread to other sectoral networks. He highlighted that “the interaction that REDCAU seeks is absolutely necessary and I trust that it will provide better results than with the atomization that much of the audiovisual sector has suffered until now.” As common challenges of the ICAA and the REDCAU, he has highlighted "the need to know each of those involved in the sector's value chain, promote debate forums, the updating of all sectoral phases, technological development and also assess the impact of public policies and private actions, without forgetting how all that effort and work carried out reaches the public."

Perspectiva transversal

The audiovisual clusters approach this strategic industry from an absolutely transversal perspective, integrating not only production but also technological infrastructures; value-added audiovisual services; technology at the service of all links in the process; promotional and development events and/or debate, training; and audiovisual brand communication.

As its main objectives, the REDCAU establishes boost national cooperation of the audiovisual sectorl generating alliances and synergies that increase the competitiveness of companies, and establishing relationships with national and international entities. Also promoting the structuring of R&D&i projects among the members of the NETWORK, companies and entities that comprise them, as well as their collaboration with all the agents of the national, European and international innovation ecosystem, promoting cooperation dynamics based on open innovation systems.

Among the challenges to be faced, the Spanish Network of Audiovisual Clusters sets as a priority the distribution of industrial resources throughout the territory, promoting interterritorial collaboration and digitalization. Another challenge is to stimulate public-private collaboration to achieve European leadership positions, as well as to articulate financing instruments that encourage the generation of content throughout the territory.

The REDCAU was born by the union of five regional clusters that represent more than 700 companies, institutions and associations. They are committed to a decentralized vision of audiovisual that allows all links in the sector to be developed from regions that have their own ecosystem.
