Cadena SER will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024 with events and the creation of a website
The commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the SER Chain It will start on February 14 with a great gala at the MNAC in Barcelona that will bring together the past, present and future of radio in Spain.
The Cadena SER starts 2024 with the announcement of a series of events and special actions to commemorate the centenary of the beginning of its emissions, given that EAJ-1 Radio Barcelona, the embryo of Cadena SER, began its activity in 1924. Therefore, throughout this year, it will undertake a series of activities that will highlight the history of radio and its fundamental and sustained impact over time in our society.
The starting signal for this tribute will be given by the celebration of the Centennial Commemorative Gala, which will take place on February 14 in the Oval Room of the MNAC (National Museum of Art of Catalonia) in Barcelona. This event, presented by Andreu Buenafuente, will offer a journey through time, exploring the past, present and future of radio, with the participation of outstanding personalities from today's radio, icons of the past who have accompanied generations of listeners and new talents who represent the evolution of a leading medium in information and entertainment. Apart from the Gala, events and commemorative activities, the next few months will be immersed in the SER of special content in the different programs, as well as by the development of a website dedicated to the Centennial of Radio.
To Ignacio Soto, general director of SER, "the centenary of Cadena SER is a unique event to pay, over the coming months, the tribute that radio deserves for the unique contribution to the development of Spanish society in the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. The Centennial Gala will mark the beginning of this collective celebration of the birth of radio in Spain and, from that moment on, we will share very special moments with our audience." Montserrat Dominguez, Director of Content at Cadena SER, adds that "the Gala is just the beginning of a year in which we will celebrate with listeners, on the air and in the street, the great cultural and social value of radio. A history shared for a hundred years to which new generations of listeners are now joining."
