Tiffen launches the G-70×2, its Steadicam arm that gains reliability, speed and stabilization
With the capacity to lift up to 31.75 kg, the new Steadicam G-70×2 arm from Tiffen It has been designed with input from “the best Steadicam operators” to offer the “most intuitive camera stabilization today.”
The line G-70 stands out for offering an architecture of core design torsion resistant thanks to the combination of “carefully selected” metal alloys, proprietary coatings and other components that work together to add resistance, stability and durability. Integrating the best achievements of the G-70x with its patented performance Iso-elastic and patented geometry Geo Spring Geometry, the new G-70×2 includes features and functions that significantly improve reliability, durability, safety, speed of adjustment and smooth stabilization.
Prepared to lift from 5.9 kg up to 31,75 kg, the G-70×2 offers an arm reach of 737 mm and a series of operational updates. The new ¾" dual-bearing-mounted arm post, with tool-free rotational locking and drag control, allows for quick adjustment: from a solid lock, to free rotation of the arm post, even when changing poles. Additionally, there is now a rigid pivoting steel socket block, also adjustable without tools. This advancement eliminates flex inherent to traditional ball heads, offering more precise positioning of the sled, with faster setups and adjustments on the fly, without disassembling the arm. As a safety benefit, the new G-70×2 prevents the operator from accidentally overextending the ball heads. Furthermore, the kickback link, which moves the arm out of the way when the sled crosses the operator's body, now features a multi-position locking block to place the arm in the most convenient position, whether used front or rear mounted.
The G-70×2 also offers a more elegant design that allows for less intrusive operation for operator movements, as well as “smoother” operation thanks to a full complement of low-friction pivot point bearings, an updated arm bumper design and other details such as rubber-grip lift and raise controls. The system, now available, supplied with a soft arm carrying bag, a special tool for user maintenance, an instruction manual and three-year full parts and labor warranty.
