Orange Spain y Másmóvil Group have officially presented Oranges, a “leading” company in the telecommunications sector in Spain by “number of clients” that begins its career with pillars such as investment capacity, innovation or sustainability.

Oranges born with a “clear” business culture, the ambition to “be the leading company in customer satisfaction, talent and positive impact” and with the intention of making technology accessible to all citizens, whether they reside or work in urban areas or in rural areas. Meinrad Spenger, who has led brands such as Yoigo, Másmóvil or Euskaltel, will serve as CEO to consolidate the company's position as a “new leader in the sector” and a “market reference”.

Orange LogoThanks to the merger between Orange España and Grupo Másmóvil, Masorange becomes the “first operator in the Spanish market by number of clients” with more than 37 million lines between mobile and broadband (+30M mobile services, 7.3M broadband) and 2.3 million television users, which represents a market share greater than 40% both landline and mobile. Furthermore, it is the Spanish operator with greatest FTTH coverage in Spain with more than 29 million marketable homes with fiber optics, 4G (98%) and 5G (more than 80%) mobile coverage in more than 2,500 Spanish municipalities.

Likewise, Masorange is positioned as the Spanish leader in the distribution of devices for the home and business with more than 4.2 million units sold per year and already offers more than 2.1 million additional services to telecommunications. On the other hand, in financial terms, Masorange becomes one of the 20 largest companies in Spain by revenue volume with more than €7.4 billion; an operating result (EBITDA) of +€2,600M, and a valuation of the new company combined greater than 18.600M€. Initially, Masorange's human team will be made up of more than 8,500 professionals and more than 50,000 indirect jobs additional.

14 brands and a continued investment of 4000 million euros

The new company will continue to develop a multi-brand strategy. Masorange will initially have nine main brands nationwide (Orange, Yoigo, Jazztel, Mobile, Monkey, Pepephone, Lebara, Lyca and Flame) and five at the regional level (Euskaltel, R, Telecable, Guuk y Embou). In addition, Euskaltel, R and Telecable, Masorange points out, will benefit from important investment plans, innovation and positive impact, materialized in the form of objectives such as Net-Zero Carbon and a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint.

On a general level, Masorange has confirmed that it will undertake investments of around 4,000 million euros in the next three years, especially in deployments of 5G, fiber and new services. Likewise, it plans to boost synergies worth close to 500 million euros annually, more than half related to the optimization of overlapping infrastructures that can be reinvested in the expansion of 5G and FTTH telecommunications networks.

The union of Orange and Másmóvil also seeks to become a benchmark for the technological innovation “internal and external” by putting technologies such as XGSPON, FTTR, Wifi 6E y Wifi 7, 5G Stand Alone o 5G network slicing. Additionally, the company will undertake plans to use data and artificial intelligence to improve customer and company experience.

Meinrad Spenger dedicated his first statements as CEO of Masorange to highlighting the role of the telecommunications group as a “reliable partner” for “clients”, “companies” and “public administrations”. “We are going to invest and innovate more to offer a maximum quality service in a sustainable way. (…) Masorange's industrial plan demonstrates our commitment to investment in Spain in the development of new telecommunications infrastructures at the service of the Spanish market and consumers," he stressed.
