Digital TV Research predicts notable growth in AVOD (ads on video on demand) by 2026: it will be a market of 54 billion euros.

The AVOD will experience a 144% growth, with a consolidated presence still growing in 138 countries. In 2020, this advertising segment has barely grown one 9.2% due to the pandemic, but it is expected that in 2021 the two figures will be reached again.

Of the 32,000 million euros of additional income that will be generated between 2020 and 2026, EU will contribute 21,000 million; China, 5 billion. Similarly, revenues will triple in India and the United States.

China: fall in AVOD

The US became the largest country for AVOD in 2019. A combination of the Covid-19 lockdown and the continued economic slowdown led to China's AVOD will fall a further 14% in 2020. China will not improve its 2018 total until 2024, although growth will return from 2021.

Regarding the States Joined, Digital TV points out that its growth will continue unstoppable: AVOD revenues in the United States will triple between 2020 and 2026 until reaching the 31 billion dollars. Instead of losing market share as other countries catch up, the US will increase its share of the global total from 37% in 2020 to 47% in 2026.

According to the study, the US has both the OTT sector and the “most developed advertising market in the world”, so “the success of AVOD platform launches in the US will not necessarily prosper elsewhere.”
