ARRI brings the look of cinema closer to live television

Under the motto 'Inspiring images since 1917', ARRI has presented its main innovations for film and television at NAB 2024, highlighting the new Alexa 35 Live camera and the LPS-1 Live Production System (composed of a fiber camera adapter and a fiber base station).

Among the novelties that Marc Shipman-Muller, Senior Product Manager Camera Systems, has announced in advance of the opening of NAB 2024 in Las Vegas, the new system stands out Alexa 35 Live – Multicam which combines the new camera Alexa 35 Live, the Live Production System LPS-1 (composed of a Fiber Camera Adapter and a Fiber Base Station), the RCP Skaarhoj and a series of custom-made accessories.

Shipman-Muller wanted to highlight that ARRI's new proposals for live production sand integrate with total transparency in existing workflows.

These include the new base and receiver plates ARRI Touchdown, an adjustable monitor yoke, an extra-long camera grip, a tally light with camera ID display, a rain cover and a new alarge lens adapter Quick-install ARRI for unprecedented quick setup with box lenses.

As for the 4K sensor of the Alexa 35 Live, it is sized Super 35 which allows for a shallow depth of field offering up to 17 stops of dynamic range and handling extreme lighting situations to obtain the best results in SDR and HDR.

Colors are accurately reproduced through the patented REVEAL color technology with bright and saturated colors down to the most subtle nuances. As a result, even contrasting concert lighting is faithfully captured and skin tones are beautiful, so performers always look their best. Low-light scenes show minimal noise and highlights are naturally diffused, just like in a movie.

Furthermore, it allows record full quality ProRes on camera during live productions, providing flexibility in post-production. In-camera recording also allows for stand-alone operation of the camera, without the fiber camera adapter. The modular lens mount can be switched between LPL, PL, EF and B4, providing a wide selection of lenses for different applications. Alexa 35 Live owners can even upgrade to full Alexa 35 functionality through an optional Cinema License.

Las creative options of Alexa 35 Live offer the user a fresh look with the ARRI Look Files which can define a unique image character through specially developed Multicam Looks. With the push of a button, you can activate one of 87 pre-made looks from the built-in ARRI Look Library, to suit a huge variety of filming scenarios.

Secondly, the ARRI Textures They are a unique method of modifying grain and contrast. The camera includes five multi-camera and eight cinema-style ARRI Textures.

LPS-1 Live Production System

ARRI's live proposal, in addition to the Alexa 35 camera, includes the fiber camera adapter that attaches to the camera quickly and easily, while the fiber base station integrates perfectly into the production or television company's facilities or into any mobile unit, supporting multiple simultaneous outputs such as HD, UHD, progressive or interlaced video.

He LPS-1 adapter, has intuitive controls, and supports SMPTE 311 for uncompressed 4K at distances of up to 2 kilometers, as well as 400W to power the camera itself or accessories at 12 and 24V.
