RTVE concludes the migration to High Definition of its territorial structure
Over the last two years, Spanish Radio Television has migrated to high definition all the infrastructure in fourteen territorial centers and the production center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife with an investment that has been around 18 million euros.
Through more than fifty tenders, the centers' sets have been equipped with studio cameras with robotic heads y high definition optics. Furthermore, it has renewed all audiovisual equipment: the studio controls, the SDI multi-screen matrix, the modular electronics, synchronizers and measurement equipment, as well as the ingest and broadcast servers of the digital editorial office.
Wireless microphones have also been replaced to adapt to the second digital dividend. In many centers, the monitoring bridges, technical furniture and racks in the equipment rooms have been changed. The encoders for the signal circuits that link each territorial center with the central node of Torrespaña have been completely renewed.
In parallel with the transformation to high definition, the renovation of the scenery of the sets including large format LED screens and graphics stations. And a network of portable IP transmitters in all information centers and units. The transmitters use 4G and 5G mobile telephone networks for live connections and to send parts in file form.
Improvement in quality
These actions have meant an improvement in the quality perceived by the RTVE audience in its regional broadcasts, with modern sets and on-screen graphics enriching the news. The high availability of portable transmitters allows any local news to be quickly covered wherever it is produced and represents an important generation of content for the national newsroom.
After completing this project, the renovations of all digital newsrooms of both TVE and RNE. And in its determined commitment to sustainability, to the renewal of the stage lighting by LED technologies low consumption already implemented in four centers, the rest of them will be added.
