SmallHD develops the Qantum Dot Monitor OLED HDR reference monitor
The new Quantum 32 is emerging as a new 31.5″ OLED monitor designed by SmallHD to provide reference HDR/SDR images for color grading in post-production, as well as critical on-set monitoring for cinematographers, DITs and directors.
Quantum 32 leverages next-generation Quantum Dot OLED display technology that combines a pprecise luminance and color uniformity con a very wide viewing angle. As a complete set-to-post monitoring solution, Quantum 32 meets the highest standards for image contrast and color accuracy, with customizable software tools, as well as a robust and lightweight chassis, rich in mounting options and integrated accessories.
Greg Smokler, Vice President of Motion Picture Products, comments: "Our R&D team continues to dedicate efforts to the evolution of our hardware/software platform to enable the development of monitors that can meet the critical color requirements of the best eyes in the world. This collaboration with Samsung Display allows us to combine their world-leading quantum dot OLED display technology with our Emmy Award-winning monitor platform to deliver the best monitor display SmallHD has ever made."
He self-emissive display panel Quantum Dot OLED from Quantum 32 is an innovative implementation of the 2023 Nobel Prize-winning nanotechnology. Developed by Samsung Display, QD-OLEDs direct high-energy light from the blue organic LED (OLED) to a layer of printed red and green quantum dots.
Quantum dots are optimized for maximum light transmission; When quantum dot subpixels are excited by blue light, they become photoluminescent, emitting very pure red and green light while blue light passes directly through them. The result is an exceptionally wide range of volumetric color expressions that more closely approximate human vision compared to conventional OLEDs.
PageOS
PageOS, the monitor operating system from SmallHD, including features such as EL Zone, Waveform, Vectorscope and Monitor Calibration Wizard with Calman integration, the next update from SmallHD will include new tools cas Color Pipe's simplified user interface; new rotary control knobs for improved tactile adjustment of tools and settings; Multiview (allows comparison of multiple inputs and LUTS); Fleet Control monitor network application; and WiFi adapter support for wireless monitor control
Available as a free download for any SmallHD monitor currently using an older version of PageOS, PageOS 6 offers enhanced software tools for each model in its current monitor series.
