The Christie CP4435-RGB projector arrives at Ōma Cinema, a new way of understanding movie theaters
Motherm cinema, a new cinema that revolutionizes the architecture of current exhibition halls to adopt the balconies of Italian opera houses with the aim of improving the viewing of films, has decided to opt for the pure laser projector Christie CP4435-RGB.
He Motherm cinema from Mougins (France) presents a innovative architecture based on circular stands, thus transforming the experience of the rooms by offering a premium auditorium concept. The room has 160 seats that integrate five individual stands, as well as more traditional seats.
Designed by architect Pierre Chican, the patented concept of “vertical” seating structure is designed to concentrate the seats in the optimal vision zone, moving the traditional “front row” seats further back in the room and the “back row” seats closer to the screen. This radical design also favors the projector installation, since they can be placed in the center of the screen eliminating image distortion.
Nicolas Chican, co-founder of Ōma Cinema, delves into the identifying features that make this new proposal unique: "We wanted to contribute something different and offer viewers something special as part of a premium in-person visit, which could not be replicated at home. We saw a lack of evolution in cinema design in recent decades and we thought that architecture could be a powerful tool to offer something unique." Ōma's team has opted for CP4435-RGB of Christie to offer advanced cinema projection compatible with DCI. “We are agnostic when it comes to manufacturers, but we were satisfied with the Christie projector that our client chose (Ndr: Cinewest), since it has an excellent contrast ratio, high brightness and an impressive color spectrum,” adds Chican about this equipment with electronics. CineLife and lighting Real|Laser.
The concept of Ōma is totally customizable and can extend to other screens around the world, whether to renovate existing rooms or to build them from scratch. Each capsule features its own unique access point and can be customized with different seating configurations and amenities. It is also possible to incorporate a stage next to the screen to be able to use an Ōma room for live events and conferences. Rear access ensures that no visual distractions (such as signage or other exits) intrude on the viewer's perspective. Likewise, thanks to the more vertical structure of the seats, space is saved at the back of the screen, allowing areas dedicated to food and drink and rest bars to be located.
Adil Zerouali, Senior Director of EMEA Film Sales at Christie, celebrates the arrival of CP4435-RGB to what he defines as an "exciting project": "We believe that cinema offers a shared experience like no other, and we want to inspire and attract film lovers together with our partners. It is fantastic to see innovation in the industry, and I am sure that this daring concept will excite film lovers."
