The Dublin-based post-production company GABBHA Studios you have chosen a film projector Christie CP4420-Xe for its new color finishing suite in Westland Row, Dublin.

This independent Irish VFX studio offers high-end visual effects, color correction and mastering for advertising, broadcast, television, film and content. The installation was carried out by the partner of Christie Kaurus, who opted for a Christie CP4420-Xe con 2.0KW LB Xenon y premium high contrast zoom lens.

“At GABHA, we knew we needed a premium projector for work,” he says Andrew Francis, partner and senior colorist at GABHA. "This was essential for us to compete on the world stage and allow our collaborators to experience their projects in the best environment. The Kaurus team came highly recommended to us by several prominent post-production filmmakers. They all agreed that they would not suggest anyone else for a project of this quality."

The brief to Kaurus was that the room and projection system had to be similar or better than a Hollywood suite. “Christie was chosen for this project because they have been designing and manufacturing the best of DCI cinema projection for many years,” he notes. Peter Sutton, CTO and co-founder of Kaurus. "Their level of product performance has been the foundation of the mastering of hundreds of film and television projects. 4K with 12G input

"This DCI-compatible Christie Series 4 projector has raised the bar in 4K specifications with 12G input capability. It adapts to the latest advances in post-production infrastructure and the latest HDMI specifications for alternative content. The new lens series also offers outstanding optical performance," he adds.

Francis, who has been performing digital color correction for the past 12 years, adds: "We knew this suite would not be simple, mainly because the site selected was not a new space. We were able to adapt this beautiful room into a unique, open space in this Georgian building in the heart of Dublin. The results are sensational!"

"Without trust in the integrator, the manufacturer and the product, a post-production facility cannot achieve its goal. They provide a space with the right tools and skills that their clients – filmmakers, advertising agencies and documentary filmmakers – trust to finish their particular masterpiece," adds Sutton.

"One of the most rewarding aspects of what we do was exemplified by GABHA. They work on high-profile projects, with a global reach, and saw what they felt Dublin, and Ireland as a whole, needed. Discussing every aspect of this suite with them – from concept to a functional service – and seeing how they adopted our opinions and suggestions was a real pleasure."
