Spanish filmmakers will transfer their knowledge to Latin America and Africa

Spanish filmmakers Latin America Africa training AECID Film Academy

The Film Academy and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), through the ACERCA Program, join forces to bring to Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Mexico, Egypt and Equatorial Guinea four training proposals from five Spanish filmmakers who have participated in Residencies and Rueda, the Academy's development programs.

The initiative, which has the collaboration of the AECID Network of Cultural Centers, the Cultural Councils and other units abroad, has as a precedent the experience of the Galician director Álvaro Gago, who visited the headquarters of the Cultural Center of Spain in Montevideo (Uruguay) last March with his proposal Wild cinema in the most intimate meadow of your town within the framework of the 42nd International Film Festival of Uruguay, where he also participated as a jury of the short films in competition.

The four projects selected in conjunction with the ACERCA Program will follow in the near future. Under the title Masculinity in audiovisuals: from John Wayne to Paul B. Preciado, filmmakers Afioco Gnecco and Carlos Villafaina will travel to the Cultural Centers of Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires. Director Elena López Riera will visit Cairo with the fantastic documentary workshop Invoking spirits through cinema, while the headquarters of Malabo and Bata (Equatorial Guinea) will be the destinations of Mariona Guiu with her proposal Reality is stranger than fiction: Practical tools for creating impact stories in video. Finally, Ainhoa ​​Rodríguez will move to Mexico City and San Salvador with The other film story: Creating from dissidence.

The workshops will be aimed at filmmakers, video artists, directors, film students, fine arts, audiovisual communication, y a todas las personas de cualquier edad y formación interesadas en el cine. Cada formación se llevará a cabo a lo largo de una semana por país con una carga lectiva total de 12-16 horas. Además, las instituciones podrán optimizar la visita de los participantes con actividades complementarias o eventos que enriquezcan el diálogo de los cineastas con el tejido cultural local.

Esta iniciativa se implementará en el segundo semestre de 2024, al objeto de ir sumando más formaciones y áreas de actuación a cargo de nuevos nombres surgidos de los distintos programas del área de Desarrollo e Investigación de la Academia de Cine.
