Spanish producers make Spanish cinema fashionable in the US and Latin America

For the first time, Miami will host an exhibition of the most recent Spanish cinema, organized by EGEDA. 'Pa Negre', 'Don't be afraid', 'Cousins', 'Héroes', 'Blackthorn', 'Three meters above the sky' and '5 square meters' will represent the most recent “made in Spain” cinema.

EGEDA (Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity), within the promotional action it carries out taking advantage of its international presence, continues its work to support the Spanish film industry abroad by organizing an exhibition in the United States.

Thus, EGEDA organizes a week in Miami to promote the Spanish audiovisual industry with the aim of promoting the development of “made in Spain” cinema in the United States and Latin America. The Recent Cinema from Spain exhibition is the most notable activity, and is organized together with the MIFF (Miami International Film Festival) and the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and with the collaboration of the ICAA of the Ministry of Culture, the Miami City Council, the Spanish Embassy in Washington, the Spanish Consulate in Miami and Miami Dade College. The Spain-US Chamber of Commerce of Miami and the Spanish Cultural Center in Miami also collaborate, whose new headquarters will be inaugurated this Sunday by Queen Sofía.

Recent Cinema from Spain was born with the aim of becoming one of the most relevant annual events on the cultural agenda of the city of Miami.

From October 20 to 23, the following films, selected by the American Cinemateque of the City of Los Angeles and the Miami International Film Festival, will be screened at the Gusman Center's prestigious Olympia Theater: Bye black, by Agustí Villaronga; Don't be afraid, de Montxo Armendáriz; Cousins, by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo; Heroes by Pau Freixas; Blackthorn, by Mateo Gil; Three meters above the sky, by Fernando González Molina, and 5 square meters, Max Lemcke.

For Enrique Cerezo, president of EGEDA, “Spanish cinema has a lot to offer a country like the United States, and at EGEDA we work intensely to promote its promotion and dissemination in a country with almost 50 million Spanish speakers.”

This initiative is closely linked to Recent Spanish Cinema, an exhibition of Spanish cinema that is held in the city of Los Angeles between October 13 and 16, organized by the ICAA (Ministry of Culture) and the American Cinematheque, with the close collaboration of EGEDA.

In parallel to this Exhibition, EGEDA organizes on the same days in the City of Miami, the third edition of the Tareula Co-production Forum, where more than 25 producers from different countries in Latin America and Spain will meet to evaluate their film production projects.
