How much does it cost to go to the movies in Latin America?
According to a study by SpoilerChile leads the ranking with the most expensive ticket in the region ($9.20) while Mexico is one of the cheapest countries to go to the movies ($3.50).
While it is true that the cost depends on the cinema chain, the day and the movie, the average cost of a movie ticket in Chile is $9.20 for a traditional theater. This average value places the South American country as the most expensive compared to other latitudes in Latin America.
Behind Chile is Argentina with an average cost per ticket of $8.45 and behind this is Guyana with an entry fee of $8. Fourth position goes to Belize and Panama with a movie ticket cost of $7.50 and sixth place is shared between Brazil, Uruguay and Puerto Rico, with an average ticket of about $7.
Curiously, Mexico occupies the nineteenth position among Latin American countries, having an average cost per ticket of $3.50. It should be noted that in this country, before the coronavirus pandemic, the ticket cost, on average, 2.5 dollars. Despite this increase, Mexico remains one of the countries where movie tickets are cheaper when compared to the rest of the Latin American countries.
While Cuba is the cheapest country in Latin America, having tickets of $0.10 dollars ($1.87 Mexican pesos) because on its billboard there are local productions and there are no Hollywood films.
