TSA will integrate the VPxR virtual production center of the Cidade das TIC (A Coruña)
The implementation and start-up of the future real-time virtual film production center VPxR promoted by the Provincial Council of A Coruña, which will be part of the technological complex ICT City, has been awarded to Telefónica Audiovisual Services (TSA) worth 6 million euros.
Soon integrated into the ICT City, an environment with an area of more than 128,000 square meters, the new VPxR virtual production center is projected on a 750 meter set squares with dimensions of 30 x 25 meters, and 12 meters high. Telefónica Audiovisual Services will be in charge of the acquisition, supply, integration and installation of all the technological resources necessary to give shape to this commitment to a new way of making films. To do this, TSA has joined forces with Tangram Solutions, which in his own words “has allowed us to develop the largest Virtual Production project” on a “fixed and fully equipped” set that is “unique in Spain today.”
The study is based on a 4K main screen y pixel pitch of 1.9 mm in semicircular configuration provided by Alfalite. Their 168 square meters cover 28 meters long y 6 tall with a 10 meter radius. Added to this configuration is an upper screen of 100 square meters with a 3.9 mm pixel pitch configured in the form of mobile trapezoids in three zones, an arrangement that allows independent and motorized mobility for the regulation of each of the parts separately in terms of height, inclination and luminosity. In addition, auxiliary LED displays in the shape of side totems mobile devices measuring 4 meters in length and 5 meters in height will be used to support the lightning.
The commitment of the Provincial Council of A Coruña is completed with a graphic representation that will be carried out using the software Pixotope, in charge of managing graphics that will be rendered with Unreal Engine technology; Trackmen, tracking hardware and software that, once connected to the camera and lens, allows the real camera to be synchronized with the virtual one in real time; a full frame large format digital camera system with its corresponding set of accessories such as lenses and filters; two VF rooms, and an audio post-production room of approximately 50 square meters equipped with a projector and sound system Dolby Atmos.
Beyond the virtual production system, TSA will supply and operate a MAM management system, as well as the video infrastructure, the data network and the sizing and installation of the electrical system.
