Proton will present Flex and Rain, a duo of mini cameras, at IBC 2024
The Flex and Rain mini cameras are added to the catalog of Proton, a company that will exhibit these solutions along with its original Proton Cam at IBC 2024 (September 13-16, Amsterdam).
Proton Flex, with dimensions of 28 mm x 28 mm and a weight of barely 37 grams, separate the target with sensor on one side and the chip video processing with power supply on the other, which grants access to very limited access angles. For example, in the case of motorsports that rely on the camera integrated into the helmet, the split construction of the lens and video processing allows for better weight distribution.
Its standard lens, which can be easily replaced by other lenses, offers a view of 97° degrees, while the sensor de 12 bits and the camera body, which incorporates two PCB Independent Printed Chip Boards take advantage of the power of a VEGA microprocessor to deliver images Full-HD 1080p.
On the other hand, the new Proton Rain addresses contexts of outdoor production and sports like off-road motor sports, extreme sports and contact sports. With a size of 30 mm x 30 mm, the solution stands out for having a resistant casing that allows the camera to be used in conditions where the risk of impact is greater. This unit, as its name already suggests, is weather resistant and is suitable for outdoor environments under heavy rain or dust “without compromising image quality or risk to the camera itself” thanks to its IP67 certification.
The camera, which maintains a microlente which can be uniquely replaced even by wide-angle lenses, also focuses on ease of use. In this regard, Proton has made great efforts to simplify operations, maintaining a real-time operating system and facilitating firmware updates via a PC or Mac, rather than the traditional approach.
Marko Hoepken, CEO of Proton, details the reception their mini cameras have had to date and conveys his expectations for IBC 2024: "We continue to be surprised by the ways in which people use our flagship, the PROTON CAM. We developed it with the creative potential in mind, but even we had not anticipated how it would be used and how visually impressive some of the results would be, both in terms of the unusual, exciting and visually progressive types of framing/shooting. that are being achieved, as well as the technical quality of the image produced.”
"Now, with these extensions to our range, in the form of Proton Flex and Proton Rain, we allow users to harness that potential in even more challenging contexts; temperature sensitive, rugged terrain or weather-dependent conditions. We are very excited about the upcoming IBC show and the opportunity to showcase our innovations, developed and controlled in-house, to our current and potential customers, as well as our industry colleagues," he adds.
